I also dun like Kim HG bakkua, thick n hard to me ... ah yo .. think my fav still bch at orchard , branch towards center pt

Never tried this brand before but DH said it's a long-established shop. I took two bites and couldn't tear off the BK. I let DH try and he took a bite, also couldn't tear off the BK. We stared at each other before bursting into laughter. Indeed thick and so tough.

Not cheap. Asked for 100g, got 2 slices which costed me $7.35. In the end, we dumped it cos it was too hard.

I bought BCH from Taka basement last year on CNY eve, no need to queue. Decent but LCG still tasted better. However, I am not willing to queue for it.

Dun like Kim HG. There's 1 near NAFA, The Bencoolen.

Kim Joo Guan is better. South Bridge Road. app Sri Mariamman.
I haven't tried Kim JG before.
Just curious, since they used to be the supplier to LCG, do you find any difference between their bak kwa?

lyl: KJG is not consistent either. They used to be as good as LCG perhaps 6-8 years ago? I bought 6 kgs from their flagship outlet at South Bridge Road in 2014. That batch was great!

However, last year's 2kg from the same outlet didn't turn out that fantastic. KJG's bbq pork slices had somewhat become thicker and dryer than LCG's. IMO, LCG (must be Chinatown flagship next to overhead bridge) is still the best - savoury and tender. I also bought 200g of their \"beef kwa\" slices to munch 🙂
What kind of jobs are there in NLB? Didn't realise they hire temp

Not sure, but will update here if you're interested. ...

There are many backroom temp jobs besides NLB. For Kinokuniya, it's not really a backroom job. ...
Why not leave her CV with a job agency. As soon as there are suitable temp jobs that meet her requirement, i.e. doesn't like to meet and serve customers, loves to organise, etc. they will contact her for a quick interview. But they do take a cut from her wages.
Just spoke to the 2 agencies handling NLB jobs. One wanted a 6mth commitment, so that was out. The other will be having a briefing on 24 Jan, so if anyone is interested, I can pass you the info. The agent mentioned shelving books; not sure what else may be required. In the meanwhile, I am going to get her to send her CV to a few recruitment agencies and see what turns up. I would prefer her to get started sooner, and there's no guarantee of an NLB job anyway.

Thanks for the info. Wow, 6kg! Your post made me want to try Kim JG. Not every time I find BCH or even LCG up to their usual standards.

ME TIME at Chinatown. Just had dim sum breakfast and now strolling around the CNY market. Saw the Kim JG shop, will buy some back later. Road closure today after 6pm. Will come back another day for it’s night market nearer CNY.
