Welcome 2017! DD1 is in P6 and on the first day of school, she has to stay back after school for HCL and has plenty of homework to complete. šŸ˜“ She also sat for a surprise Science test today. The heat is really on!

Interesting to note that there is a newly transferred in P6 girl.
      šŸ˜“

      You DD in GEP?

DS school still taking it easy. No lessons at all. Lots of pep talk and goal setting activities.

Funz, DD1 is in mainstream. The one in GEP is DD2, who is P5 this year. So immediately after this year's PSLE, I need to start PSLE prep for DD2. :lightrod:

Your DS school is good to provide them with such talks. DD1 said yesterday, the girls in her class started to discuss whether to DSA or not.

DD1 knocked out early last evening after finishing her homework. Usually she doesn't take afternoon naps. Guess first day of school was \"overwhelming\". šŸ˜‚

The Science test consisted of Kinetic/Potential energy questions as well as the entire P5 syllabus

Not easy being a P6 student. I am so worried for my DS mental state. He puts in a lot of effort. He is now looking very serious and very attentive in his work.

Sometime I inject some fun in his work but he brushes it off as being \"lame\". Worse sometime he tells me to be serious.

A test to assess where the students are in terms of their understanding so the teacher will know how much to recap and where are the areas to focus on may not be a bad thing. But 1st day of school, .... šŸ˜“

Guess stress or not, burn out or not, it depends on how parents, teachers and students view the tests. If they are used as a tool to check that the student is on track and the marks don't matter that much, then should be manageable.
