My time Biz Ad in NUS was like ABB min. No offence but Arts was pretty easy to get in in those days eg BCC. Now I think not anymore.

Now all courses require a string of As and Bs. The course with the lowest grade profile for the 10th decile of offers in 2017 was Nursing, at BCC/C. -
Best to check the specific university's indicative grade profile for the latest cohort:

http://www.nus.edu.sg/oam/gradeprofile/sprogramme-igp.html

Hope it'll help! -
In addition, do check the course pre - requisite of university courses, as below. Together with the indicative grade profile, it will help in the choice of subject combination.

From the above, generally, if there is no intention to pursue engineering or science courses, then a H1 Math OR A Math (undertaken at O Level) will suffice. Of course, this means you're likely limited to only Biz related and Arts and social sciences courses, plus some others. -

OK, I meant the better scorers from MI. Some from OI or SI in the past were known to have done well enuff to get into Biz. Somehow, those who went thru pre-U seemed to be darn good in Marketing and Biz. I hv a gf who went thru OI, did Estate Mgmt and now earning big bucks at one of the top realty firms. She is super good at marketing.
I agree (except for the last part) with jetsetter. Choosing Chemistry and Biology puts you on a collision course with some of the top students in the cohort. That's akin to starting a football match 2 goals down.jetsetter:
if the objective is to get into any of the 6 unis, most people may just pick an 'easier' combi comprising 'softer' H2s like Mgmt, Accounting, Art, MTLL, etc??
H2 Bio and Chem are taken by a lot of top students in IPJCs, so that might have some impact on the bell curve??
Then again, there could be some newer courses in new unis that don't require one to score distinctions in these 2 subjects. There are more options and pathways these days, compared to 20-30 years ago.
In the past, those with borderline UAS typically picked Building/Estate Management, Arts & Soc Sciences, Science or Biz Ad in NUS, regardless of interest. The mindset then was to get in first then decide on career later...
Err. Bizad in NUS has always been nearly a straight A or at worst ABB leh :skeptical:
I think there should be many more marketing/biz mgmt courses in the 3 new unis today. -

Yah...keeps changing. My time: AAC could get into Med (but from RJC lah), ABC could get into Law (from top 5 JC lah), ABC could get into Accountancy (also top 5 JC).
Now, DDD can get into NTU Engg, so said havok_ex (his sibling). -

I think Imp75 and my time quite same same leh :evil:Imp75:

That said, in the past guys can sneak into Bizad with slightly lower grades like ABC because they apply 2 years ahead of the girls. Today, even the 90th percentile is at least AAA/C :scared: -

You mean 10th percentile, I believe?I think Imp75 and my time quite same same leh

But do remember that there has been grade inflation over the years while university places have not increased at the same rate. In my time, 35 yrs ago, HCJC only had under 100 students with 3 or 4 As - compare that with now! Although a greater percentage of the cohort gains admission to university, the grades required have gone up. It's the percentile ranking that matters, but that is not a measure that Singapore makes public to students. -
my time - AAA to medicine and Law
Accountancy (NTU) - min AAB…
My sister’s time (2000s) - Accountancy (NTU) is min AAA -

Accountancy in the mid 90s were very much similar to Bizad at ABB.
Medicine was always straight As but you many be able to secure an interview with Law Fac if you have AAB but with A in GP.
