I think the biggest worry today is being too pigeon holed / specialised and the job get disrupted by technology and what not. Hence, being versatile has certain advantages (and of cos, disadvantages).

You are right..like casting a wider net..maybe good for graduates who know what they want to do and go along the (same) line..me just worry the child keep hopping around (different industries) then kinda always fresh grad pay.

I sort of think the world is a slightly different place today.

People are not so concern if you don't stay within the same industry. What some bosses are looking for are transferable skillsets or competencies. Staying in the same industry or doing the same job for a long period of time may not be regarded highly in some companies.

Think ultimately, it is that person's character and experience that matter more than the first degree cert..recently heard someone said that the certs are to be given to HR department for record purposes after job confirmed

my time - AAA to medicine and Law

Accountancy (NTU) - min AAB.....
My sister's time (2000s) - Accountancy (NTU) is min AAA

No leh.
Accountancy in the mid 90s were very much similar to Bizad at ABB.
Medicine was always straight As but you many be able to secure an interview with Law Fac if you have AAB but with A in GP.

Dun get me wrong...during my generation, there were many AAA scorers going to med, law and accountancy too. I was citing lower-end e.g. that i got to know from my friends who graduated from those faculties.

So this RJ friend of mine said he was an odd one who got thru with AAC, but his AO subject (H1) and GP grade were As. Cleared interview.

Similarly, the ABC law girl scored A1 for her GP (H1). Cleared interview. This girl did a lot of community work in JC.

The ABC accountancy one, former RI gepper, scored A2 for GP. AO Chinese was C6.

I'm not familiar with Bizad as I'd very few friends opting for this commerce faculty. As u know in the 90s, Bizad and Biz Studies were 非主流 courses...No one knew exactly what they could end up as...It's too general and lame. More general than Arts and Science.

I mentioned ytd that I noticed most pre-U students (or lower-tier JC students) will choose Bizad. Most joined sales & marketing or general admin after graduation. You don't need to be textbook-smart to be the top marketeer for your regional market. Biz acumen cannot be taught.
