Ds has 2 friends with following combi:
Phy, Lit, Hist, Maths, KI - Arts
Phy, Lit, Econs, Maths - Hybrid
They are both v strong in Maths. Told me they took Phy bcuz it is similar to Maths. A number of sonโs frens who are in PCME, says Chem is more challenging than Phy. Thankfully, last yearโs A lvl Chem was doable. -

If she has an interest in and aptitude for Lit, I don't think unfamiliarity should hold her back. Her teachers will be able to guide her over the 2 yrs.
Yup, just wanted to try our luckjtoh:
Based on last year's COP, RI arts and NJ science are probably out.
If your dd doesn't like Physics and Bio, it's best not to take them. There's quite a leap from O levels to A levels. Even more so for Chemistry. I was thinking a hybrid course might be something she'd consider. Provided she is comfortable with Chem of course. With the humanities programme, literature is compulsory. Is she comfortable doing lit when she didn't do it at O levels?
Hmm, If she can't jump across I guess I'll advise her to take H1 Chem. I'm not sure if she will be comfortable with Lit, but she might want to try it out. However, after some more thought, I think I will advise her not to take Lit because the different texts and poems can be interpreted differently, and I don't know what Cambridge accepts. Also, she has to get used to the subject while coping with commitments...
Also note that not a combinations are available at all JCs, especially which H1 is available for the various combinations. You may want to check before deciding. -

It's quite individual whether a student finds Chem or Physics more challenging. My daughter has friends who differ on this! But certainly being strong in Maths should make Physics easier to cope with.Ds has 2 friends with following combi:

True, thankfully last year's Sciences were quite manageable. Maybe they were the last batch to do the old syllabi?

My son's JC made last year's promos very hard for all the J1s. Quite a number did the re-papers when school opened. -

Tentatively 24-28 Feb 2017 (from SEAB website). -

H2 Chemistry is a lot more content heavy than H2 Physics. When I asked around during the open house this year, some of the subject teachers mentioned that the trend for A level H2 Chemistry questions are more application based which require more higher order thinking skills.Ds has 2 friends with following combi:
