Hi, A couple of questions here.

      1. China Studies in English (H1)- Any feedback about the subject taught in MI? How was the past A level results in MI for this subject compared with Econs?
      2. Which science subject to take for H2- Physics or Chem? DS’ both sciences got "C" at O levels. Both Math got "A".
      3. When he reports to school on Friday, does he buy uniforms and PE attire ? How many PE days per week in general? Wondering how many sets to buy and how much cash to give him.
      Thanks in advance.

        Nebbermind:
have you decided on which courses/poly? You definitely have to cast your net further than NP and SP and probably shortlist 3~4 courses unless you are very sure his score is close enough to their COP.

decided on 3 courses. the cop for those courses are 21.

          thanks.

His chances are very good. Go for it!

No idea about the other 2 questions but I would definitely recommend Physics over Chemistry for your son. Physics has a number of commonalities with Math (especially A Maths) and would probably be easier than Chem for your son. Also, as mentioned previously in a number of posts, Chemistry is typically taken by some of the top JC students (with an eye for Medicine), whereas Physics is like Chicken meat (eaten by nearly everyone). It would be less disadvantageous to be against a bigger pool of students.

Typically, JCs advise if you were to take one Science, then they would advise Chem over Physics and Bio. So the pool of students taking Chem is a lot larger than Physics. Between Chem and Physics, if the student is strong in Math, then Physics is a more natural fit than Chem.

                  2. If he's strong in Maths, Physics should come easier for him. On the other hand, if he's going to pursue sciences later on (university or whatever), then you may want to consider which is going to be more useful.
                  3. As far as I recall, PE is twice a week. It's best to get 2 sets of PE attire as they will need them for the orientation, I think. Over time, they will acquire house and class tee-shirts which can be used at other times when t-shirts are allowed (not PE lessons, though). Anyway, since PE gear is sold in the bookshop, he can always buy more if he needs more later.

Not sure about MI, but most JCs require Science students to take Chemistry with Physics OR Biology. Hence, the pool of students taking Chemistry is almost double that of Physics. If Physics is 'chicken meat', what is Chemistry ?? :rotflmao:
