Hihi.. my girl is gonna be up for registration this coming mid yr, phase 2b. Can I consult all dear parents, is nh really v academic driven? Any exams in their first 2 years? Any idea on the principal too? Thanks a lot. :x
My kid graduated from nhps. He spent 6 happy years there and enjoyed his primary school days very much. He was active in his CCA and other project work.
In terms of academic, the standard especially Chinese is higher than most schools but that also explain for their excellent academic achievements. With support from parents, your kid will be able to cope and be a happy child there. As for the principal, she's quite new but one can tell that she's humble and willing to hear feedback from parents. Hope that helps! :xedfingers: -

I understand that NHPS does not provide any math olympiad trainings even for upper primary. There is only the limited number of sessions for P3s, provided by vendor. If we are interested in the competition we have to source for enrichments externally. Is this generally the case for other primary schools?
Aren't there? :?
My DC just received a letter regarding MO training for P4 students leh. -
I’m helping my friend to find anyone interested to join Chinese Group Tuition for P5, every Thurs 5-7pm, at Block 204 Residents’ Committee Centre (directly opposite Nan Hua Pri). Fee is $50 per session (2 hours). There are 3 kids on waiting list (including her kid) and just need one more to form the class. A group of nan hua P6 kids are attending the tuition there as well in preparation for PSLE.
Here a brief info about the lady tutor:
NIE Trained, Ex-HOD of Mother Tongue Department
Latest cohort of students scored 100% A & A* for 2016 PSLE (students coming from Raffles Girls School, Methodist Girls, Innova Primary School, Nan Hua Primary School etc).
Please PM me if interested. Thank you. -

Sorry for the late reply. Was busy with work and CNY stuff. Anyway, in case you did not receive my PM, here are some of the info. to you & those who PM me (not sure if I hv replied all):
There should be enough students to start the P5 class starting next Thurs, 5-7pm (tbc by tutor) due to the responses received so far. Venue and fee as above. Lessons include preparing kids for their orals and compo not just paper 2. P6 class is running every Thurs, 2.30-4.30pm.
My friend is keen to send her child as the tutor was my child's ex tutor. My kid was struggling with CL and HCL in NHPS prior to joining the group tuition. Things changed since he joined the group tuition in P5 and he did very well for 2nd half of his P5, prelims and PSLE. For his group, out of 7 kids, 5 obtained distinction and the other 2 obtained As. All her other groups did very well (minimum A for CL) though I'm not sure of the numbers receiving distinctions. Most importantly, it's a joy to see my kid developing an interest in reading Chinese novels during his leisure time given the fact that his present sec school is SAP. Let's hope more can benefit from her teachings.
Anyway, if you are interested, you can sms her directly @ 9820 8854 (not advisable to call as she may be teaching). I hv obtained her permission as I dun frequent the forum or check my inbox that often. Hope above info is useful. Thanks. -
Thanks for your detailed sharing. Will contact the tutor directly. Happy New Year to you !
