Mr Bean:
To add on, further questions :-
May I know ifslmkhoo:
Did they (which poly?) say that DAE results would be out on 1 Mar? I've asked SP and they won't say when.
1) there are already certain number of vacancies allocated for DAE for all courses
2) certain number of vacancies allocated for DAE for some courses and no allocation for some courses
3) there is no allocation of vacancy at all for DAE. The poly will wait for vacancies to become available when students who have been offered a place do not eventually enrol. The poly will then fill up the place through DAE.
How does the DAE procedure work, in Polytechnic ?
Is there some kind of centralised computerised system, such that say 2 Different Faculty courses, from 2 different Polytechnic know or is aware that another Polytechnic has already offered the Appeal candidate a successful place ?
E.g.
Say, a candidate had appealed for DAE in 2 different courses, from 2 different Polytechnic (Polytechnic X and Y).
Suppose Poly X decide to offer a seat or vacancy to the candidate, after studying his profile, so update this applicant's computer system status to \"successful offer\", plus name of the Faculty Diploma course offered (3 years, full-time)
Meanwhile, an Officer in charge of Appeal from
Another Polytechnic Y, check up the computer status of this candidate, realised that Poly X had already offered him successful DAE, so Poly Y decide to decline their DAE offer, since X already offered.
Does it work like that, or No ?
(Just wish to clarify how the computerised system update status control DAE process of Appeal, work.
Are all the Polytechnic computer database : linked up ?) -

Thanks phttph for the information.
u are welcome, lee
That's why
Currently enrolled IP students also cannot register for O level as private candidates : SEAB will nullify / invalidate their application if they attempt to do so, due to clause 2.1.4.
IP students can only take IGCSE exam, as Pte candidate. -
slmkhoo:
there are 3 phases. the poly which son applied at is under 1st phase and closing date is 2moro 14/2. result will be known 1 march. 2nd phase result will be known end march.janet88:
now have to wait till 1 march to know results of DAE.
Did they (which poly?) say that DAE results would be out on 1 Mar? I've asked SP and they won't say when.
as for SP, i was informed that the result would be out mid march. -
phtthp:
i was informed that DAE is applying directly to the poly. all appeals go directly to the admissions dept.

JAE is under MOE...after the posting, it's no longer MOE biz. students who wish to apply for course they are interested in, will have to apply directly to the poly. this is also a nail biting period because we really don't know what the chances are. -

when & how do the vacancies arise, for DAE ?
is it that the Respective Faculty in that Polytechnic already pre-allocate or set aside X number of seats first before-hand for DAE students, or they just adopt \"wait & see\" attitude : see whether got any student(s) drop out of the Diploma course which DAE students are awaiting anxiously for, thus giving rise to vacancy ?
btw, why are there so many phases (3), in that poly that yr son apply ?
did they explain to you : what are the differences amongst the 3 phases, when u submit appeal that time ? -
phtthp:
all appeals go directly to the admissions dept. that dept will process and if interviews are required, then the lecturers for that course will sit in. i don't understand why there are 3 phases either. based on what i was informed, there are still lots of movements going on after the result on 9/2. some students who appealed for the course still have a change of mind...which is why the faculties do not know how many are confirmed taking the course. they only know the 2017 intake.

phtthp:
When I submitted my daughter's DAE application (in Dec!) they wouldn't tell me anything much, just asked me to wait and they would get back to me eventually. So just waiting. They also said to send them her A level results when they are released, so I guess we won't hear anything till after that, at the earliest. Also, they said that there will be a written test and interview if she is shortlisted (don't know if this applies to all DAE or only those without O levels).

Don't know if SP has this \"3 phases\" thing? -
slmkhoo:
SP doesn't have 3 phase application...it's RP.
Don't know if SP has this \"3 phases\" thing? -
janet88:
Yes, RP's admissions system is different from the SP/NP. They told me to wait until after the A level results are out before even applying for DAE (maybe that's phase 2, or 3?). I was hoping that we might hear from one of the others before then, but looks like we will have to submit an application to RP anyway.

same here...now it looks like a waiting game because admissions dept in the poly told me there are lots of movements going on. some students after getting their course in 2nd round of appeal on 9/2 are appealing for another course. here we are hoping to get admitted to a course in the poly.
