Hi all,
I saw an earlier post about someone asking about the clan association for Hong Wen School. Has anyone successfully enrolled in Hong Wen School via this route?
Thanks. -

Hi everyone! Not sure if im posting in the correct thread but im giving it a shot! My daughter is turning five this year so which means another two years till primary one. I am a Catholic while my hubby isn't. Both my kids are baptised catholics. We will be moving to our new place next to Canberra mrt (not completed yet) this year. Fyi Canberra mrt will be between Sembawang & Yishun Mrt. I was a previous CHIJ girl (st theresa's). However I am looking at CHIJ St Nicholas for my girl as it is probably the closest to our new place. My question is, since we r probably more than 2km from the school, does my chances of getting a place increase greatly by us being catholics and if i start doing some pv now? Also does it make a difference that I was from an IJ school myself though a different one? :thankyou:

Whether one is Catholic or Parent Volunteer -
Both end up in the same phase during P1 registration, i.e. Phase 2B.
Hence, for Catholic :
no need to apply to become a parent volunteer, for CHIJ st Nicholas primary.
But, u can call up the school General Office admin directly to clarify / confirm : besides your daughter's proof of Catholic baptism certificate, whether the school also need parents' baptism cert or not, & is it from one or both parents. This part, I am not sure.
St Nick's telephone number is here :-
http://chijstnicholasgirls.moe.edu.sg/school-info-hub/contact-information
Also, You can read up more about what constitute phase 2B Registration procedure, under Moe website :-
https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases
You mention you were an ex student of CHIJ St Theresa Secondary ? But, this is a Secondary school, not primary.
what was your ex primary school ? Can check your ex primary school Report card.
You qualify for your ex primary school (whichever school, it was) under Phase 2A2 (for ex students), or you qualify for Phase 2A1 : provided your ex primary school has an Alumni group present & you had joined this Alumni group, by a certain dateline, as stated on MOE website.
If u had missed Joining Phase 2A(1) dateline, sorry.
Not all primary schools in Sg, however have Phase 2A1, as not all schools Form alumni group.
Some have, while others do not have.
You can call up your ex primary school, to inquire more.
As for staying more than 1 km radius outside of CHIJ st Nicholas primary -
you won't even have any chance to ballot under Phase 2B nor 2C, unless you shift closer to less than 1 km, try your luck at balloting.
Refer to past historical trend, for IJ St Nicholas balloting, at Ang Mo kio neighbourhood.
St Nick -
being a highly popular school in demand due to her affliation status to her O level Secondary school, past historical trend reveal that balloting arise, at both Phase (2B and 2C), each year :-
https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/article/ang-mo-kio/
if u wish to try your luck at balloting less than 1 km, do prepare a back up school under Phase 2C, as balloting is intense in this school. -

Once you are eligible for a phase, your chance doesn't improve by stacking, i.e. a PV+GRL+Catholic is as good as a Catholic.
In any case, you are more than 1km to SNGS, you won't have a chance as SNGS ballot in P2B under 1km. -

Different Methodist Church has their own criteria to be a member. Such membership may even require church members to attend regular church services, respective bible studies group as well as serving in Church for at least a year so as to apply to be a member of a Methodist church. Before even getting a membership, parents will need to attend Baptism and Membership Courses in Church which may last a few weeks to one and a half months. Parents will also need to be baptise to be accepted as a member of Methodist Church. My whole family were baptise and has been members in a Methodist church for almost 20 years.

hi all,
need some help around here.
My daughter will be registering for P1 this coming July/Aug…
Have checked the distance from my house to Ai Tong, which is <1KM but >2km…
I m not doing any PV or member of the school. Can i confirm that the chances of balloting in phases 2c is very slim?
We have another option which is CHJI Saint Nic. Which is within 1km from our house. But we are not any church member…
May i know which school we will stand a higher chance in going through…
Please help…
Thanks.
