Shortiesnap:
erm ...your own sentence -hi all,
need some help around here.
My daughter will be registering for P1 this coming July/Aug..
Have checked the distance from my house to Ai Tong, which is <1KM but >2km...
I m not doing any PV or member of the school. Can i confirm that the chances of balloting in phases 2c is very slim?
We have another option which is CHJI Saint Nic. Which is within 1km from our house. But we are not any church member..
May i know which school we will stand a higher chance in going through..
Please help..
Thanks.
\"Have checked the distance from my house to Ai Tong, which is <1KM but >2km... \", is controversial.
qn:
is your house from Ai Tong : less than 1 km, OR more than 2 km ?
under Phase 2C (Open to Public, balloting)
i) for Ai Tong : SC children need to ballot, LESS than 1 km.
outside 1 km : no chance, to even ballot.
ii) for CHIJ St Nicholas : SC children need to ballot, also LESS than 1 km.
outside 1 km : no chance, to even ballot.
assuming that your house from Ai Tong is less than 1 km, & also concurrently less than 1 km from CHIJ St Nicholas primary -
then, on the Last day of Phase 2C -
confirm & compare the number of SC children balloting under less than 1 km, from either school, with the General Office counter, handling P1 registration. Then from there, u decide which school you want to choose, attempt balloting.
results of balloting : can swing, either way.
It all depends on your luck, on actual balloting day, itself.
if you're lucky that day, your kid gets balloted in.
in the event fail to ballot in, then u will proceed to next Phase : Phase 2C Supplementary.
Thus, do prepare a back up school, under Phase 2C Supp (just in case, on standby)

SC : Singapore citizen children
PR : zero chance, for above 2 extremely hot, popular primary schools -
hi, thanks for the reply.
My house is more then 1km but then then 2km to Ai Tong.
For CHIJ St Nicholas is within the 1km distance from the house…
Thank u so much for the advise. -
Can I check if it's too late for me to join as a member to Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan for a chance to enter my girl (this year 2017 registration for 2018 P1) to Nan Chiau Primary School at phase 2B? My house is 1.9km from Nan Chiau Primary School. What is the likely chance for my girl to enrol in Nan Chiau if we were to fall to 2C category? Thanks in advance. :thankyou:

Definitely too late to join as a member. You won't get the recommendation letter from them even if you sign up now.
As for Phase 2C, Nan Chiau ballot within 1km. Hence, you won't stand a chance > 1km. BTW, you have to use onemap to establish the distance (which doesn't indicate the decimal point). -

Hi there! I’m considering registering my Son to ACS Primary but would like to clarify one thing. From what I understand, there are an equal number of spaces for Phase 2B and 2C. Any excess applicants in Phase 2B will spill over into Phase 2C, but at that point, any church affiliation will be a moot point–is that correct? And from looking at the school’s balloting history, there were only about 7 extra applicants for Phase 2B so I feel like going to the trouble of hunting down my old baptism record and joining a Methodist church would mostly be a waste of time. Anyone able to confirm or contest my opinion? Thank you!

Given that you are looking at Phase 2C, I assume you are living close to the school. It's not a waste of time if you consider the following reasons:
1. Phase 2B attracts less applicants than 2C because of the extra requirement - church affiliation or GRL. Hence, probability for success in the ballot is typically higher. Phase 2C is free for all.
2. If you are unlucky at being balloted out in Phase 2B, you can have another bite at the cherry in Phase 2C. If your only chance is 2C and you fail, that's game over. -
Thanks for your reply, Floppy. I suppose you are right--I don't know why I had halfway convinced myself that applicants in Phase 2B and 2C had about an equal chance of getting in. I guess I really don't want to have to go to church membership classes, etc.
