Only selected ones after the test will go for Camp and then further shortlisted ones will go for Interview. So I think all applicants (regardless of profile) have equal chance to perform well for the selection test to be shortlisted. You may want to post your query in NUS High thread since majority of the students there have gone through this DSA process before

Note that DSA criteria might change from year to year. So do look out for NUS High Open House or its website for the details of this year.

In terms of marks, Maths is slightly higher than Science. But she mentioned she does not like Math since P2/P3. I am still trying to persuade her to believe that she is good in Maths.

My 2 cents, it doesn't matter what is your dd's interests at this point in time. I doubt schools grouped their students by specific subject domain. Everyone will take same subjects in year 1 anyway.

During shortlisting process, what each school sees is on paper - an application form. Thus, it is more important to choose an area that can best showcase your dd's abilities. Brainstorm what is her competitive advantage - not just academic but other areas as well eg leadership and services. What you have to focus on is how to tell a convincing story so that these schools would be interested in your dd.

As for her interests in specific subject, there will be opportunities for specialization subsequently, through subjects combination as well as various school enrichment programmes. At this point in time, only have to focus on how to dsa into the school of her choice.

Again, that is purely my personal opinion. Other parents might have different viewpoints

My son has been selected as one of the finalists for “sota creative writing competition 2017”.
He received invitation to attend creative writing workshop. Winners will be announced after this workshop.
I would like know if anyone has experience about creative writing workshop last year. May I know what to expect and expectation from kids.
Please help to provide more details about it.

Thanks for your advice. Agree that interest can change and I must focus on getting into DD’s dream school regardless of subject. I considered her interest because school may check the interest in subject during interview. As Sleepy suggested, I need to figure out which subject has highest chance for her. Her best scored subject is Social Study in P5 but it is not included in DSA subjects. I think DD is getting more confident in Maths now and she might get higher mark this year. I am still open to Maths, Science and Art.
In my understanding, RGS requires subject-specific domain for DSA Academic, but MGS does not require to choose specific subject. Is that correct?

Anybody know where to get samples of paper for NJC’s English & Math paper for the 1st round of DSA? Or any advice what is the tested component for the papers - eg English is tested for Comprehension or Free Response? Math is more like Olympics Qs or Secondary syllabus?

Thank you.[/quote]From the respective school websites, it seems that RGS is subject-specific & MGS more on overall academic. To confirm, you may wish to call up the schools for first-hand information. I half-suspect that because MGS is doing IB, their students need to be all-rounders (?).

SS is an examination subject for GEP but not for MS. May not be fair to use SS as a DSA subject?
