I’m new here and based on the forum thread, seems like I need to act super-early for Nan Chiau Primary.

Does anyone know if the membership charges for SHHK is recurring every yearly, or is it a one time charge of $500+

Any existing SHHK member who can help to recommend for me to be a member?

The one-time sign up fee is $500, annual membership is $24.00.

Are you staying within 1km of NCPS? If you or your spouse has the time, better to sign up as PV with the school. If you're accepted as a PV, as long as you clock in the min. 40 hours, you'll get the chance to register under phase 2B, whereas being clan members does not automatically \"qualify\" you to register in phase 2B.

Yes, I agree with Tulip. Joining the Huay Kuan now is not a guarantee anymore. Somemore, you will also need to be a volunteer in Huay Kuan activities to increase your chance.


At the end of the day, you may walk home disappointed by not getting the recommendation.

Being a PV is a sure to get a chance to ballot if you stay within 1km and you complete the mandatory no. of hours required.

We actually stay next to NCPS.

I heard from my colleague that the 2B is actually "split" into 2B1 and 2B2. 2B1 is for GR & Clan associates, while 2B2 only comes after 2B1 for PV. Is this true?

As far as I know, 2B is one big pot, (for clans, PV and grassroots). They ballot all together if they qualify.

That’s right. Only Phase 2A has 2A1 and 2A2. Under Phase 2B they prioritize by distance (if balloting is required), no preference to GR & Clan members.

Other than Tao Nan, Haig Girls, my wife and I are also considering MGS for my daughter. Would like to know what is the definition of \"endorsed\" here ? Does it mean that by simply being a member of a Methodist Church, we're \"endorsed\" and it qualifies my daughter for phase 2B or do I still require a letter of recommendation from the church ?

Are there different \"endorsement\" critieria for the different Methodist Schools ?

For a child whose parent has joined the school as a parent volunteer not later than 1 July 2007 and has given at least 40 hours of voluntary service to the school by 30 June 2008; or whose parent is a member endorsed by the church/clan directly connected with the school; or whose parent is endorsed as an active community leader.

as far as I know, catholic do not need to join or be ‘member’ of any church. they can just go into any church and pray.
