Thanks. Think there will be more clarity within the next few weeks.
Yes, we will know soon 🙂

It seems clear to me that MOE wants holistic education for all students so I will be surprised if GAT is not discontinued for ALL (including IP schools) as \"These tests are used by some schools as a standardised assessment of applicants’ general reasoning and problem-solving skills. While they allow for a comparison of students’ abilities, they also inadvertently put undue focus on general academic abilities, rather than identifying specific strengths.\".

Any idea dsa application starts in April or May according to trend?

Each school can set its own deadline as long as it is within MOE's timeframe.

Open Houses will start soon (many will be in Apr/ May) ... application deadline will be announced in the respective school's Open House and website, usually you need to submit in June as most schools require P6 SA1 results (some schools allow you to update SA1 at a later date after initial submission).

Sorry, first timer here guiding my son in dsa application. Pardon if it is stupid qn.

Asking another qn - if child applies under cca leadership, that means if granted co, school will never allow change of cca?

Watching Channel 8 repeated telecast of 狮城有约 now. DH and I were stunned when we heard Low Yen Ling answered the question whether DSA based on talent would favour those with the resources. She said with a straight face that talent is something inborn, and has nothing to do with training.

Not sure if she is naive or is it simply wishful thinking on her part. Or is that the official public communications line?

Without acknowledging the inherent bias in the system, how can steps be taken to mitigate the effects?

She not wrong what. If got musical talent and cannot afford classical music training, then can self learning how to play the recorder expertly. :siam:

She must be living under a rock. Yes you first need talent. But if your parents have no money to buy you a piano or any other instrument to practise at home, how are you going to play well?

Recorder is not a DSA domain.

Not sure if I miss out anything while reading the news, was it mention anywhere at which point of the admission process the '20%' reserved for non-affiliated students comes in?

Is the sequence of admission like the below:
                  1. Take in DSA students first
                  2. Take in non-affiliated students based on t-score up to 20 per cent of sec 1 cohort
                  3. Take in affiliated primary school student up to 80 per cent of sec 1 cohort , based on their t-score
                  4. If there is any remainder vacancy, it's based on t-score
From my own understanding, the priority for taking in students is
1). Take in DSA students first,
2). Take in affiliated students up till 80%. Note: Current, the majority of affiliated sec schools already has an intake of more than 20% of non-affiliated students.
3). Left over from (2), will be open up to non-affiliated students.

Some parents might think this will open up more vacancies to highly sought-after branded schools but I don't think that will be the case as these schools are likely to already satisfy the quota of 20% non-affiliated students.

Like I said before, they must have consulted all affect parties before arriving at this magic figure. This exercise is just to crystallize it to show that they are attending to the complaints. 🦆

Then those people should push for it....and maybe electric guitar too!

talents are in-born and needed to be honed…what rubbish to say resources are not invested to hone the skills or talent even for mainstream sports…
