      Dear members,

My husband & I have been trying to find friends with SHHK membership but unfortunately none of our friends are in.

Would like to seek any kind members to help us for the referral pls? We would like to join as members & to participate as volunteers…

We can meet up at your convenience, at your preferred location. I can be contacted at 97550839.

      Truly appreciate your help!

Please note that becoming a member doesn't guarantee you'll get the letter for you to register in P2B. They will give the letters to older members first. So if you want to go this route you will have to register as early as possible, e.g.: at least 3-4 years before the registration year.

        qns:
        3-4 years volunteer normally
        vs
        1-2 years volunteer aggressively

will the 1-2 year parent fail to get the letter in the end?

For SHHK, based on my friends' experience and heresay, the 1-2 year volunteer/member will fail to get it unless he/she opt for one of the less popular schools.

know someone who joined as member since dragon baby born, and started volunteer since then. By now, they have more than hundred of hours clocked and are still clocking even more active now. they mentioned other members they know from volunteering are all like them. yes, most of them are eyeing on at the school in east side.

so if you are looking for join now for dragon baby, i would say save your $$ and time.
another friend who registered 2 years ago also clocked in more than 100 hours, it worst than PVing, plus still have to pay for membership fees.

as new parents, PV or grassroots or clan, were never in the CDA goodie bag for us to read about ma.
                  (hahahha joking only)

thanks..... for the kind note... will not waste time. ($$ already spent)
in that case, being a grassroot member in marine parade is easier to get the letter signed compared to 100 hours for 6 years.
( i know this is out of topic and i quoted it for comparision only, pardon me)

The thing is, being a GRL (for the purpose of P2B) has a clearly defined and quantifiable measurement (x years, y hours). For SHHK schools, there isn't. If you choose one of the more popular schools (e.g. TNS, ATS), the requirements go up accordingly and you won't know it until you are being rejected / accepted.

which brings to the next scary matter if one were a GRL in marine parade:

                      during 2B,
he/she will need to fight with 30-40 hokkien kids (ok... i know there may be non hokkien kids if its their mum who is a member)

which boils down to the distance....

HAIZ .......all about planning and planning ahead.
