I pinch got no feel already :faint: what is yours will be yours. what I can do is to continue remind dd and to encourage her to study 'hard'. To keep telling her dont understand please ask me see if I could help

some affliated kids will be cut because of the new ruling. can you imagine AL grading is already so stressful...now add on a reduction for affiliated schools.[/quote]once AL system roll out in 2021 (pioneering batch affected, are 2017 P2 students, born Y2009), with 20% reduction for Affliated schools, these schools can check : what was the last AL Cut-off point for their own affliated students, who managed to fall within 80% balance of remaining seats left, can go back to their own Secondary school ?

once this info become available, subsequently, 2nd batch of PSLE AL students onwards (ie. current 2017 P1 students are 2nd batch AL, born Y2010), will know what is the Affliated AL COP (Cut-off-point), in their school.
the Affliated AL Cut-Off-Point (for remaining balance of 80% students, left-over seats), will depend on :-
a)
the number of places / vacancies, allocated to each Sec 1 course class (depend on what course it is)
eg
for NON-IP course : usually, is around 35 to below 40 students, per class
for IP (Integrated-program) course : usually, around 25 to below 30 students, per class
IP course : usually, have smaller number of Sec 1 students, per class, compared to O level course.
b)
the Total number of Secondary 1 level unique course classes opened, inside each Affliated Secondary school.
(for O level Express / Normal Academic / Normal Technical), -

a relative from SCGPS went to ACS Int'l, I couldn't really understand why....can someone enlighten?
Quite common nowadays Liao. One relative's girl from NYPS couldn't score 250, so parents also put her in SJI Int.
Imagine student A PSLE scored 219, cannot get back to affiliated sec sch, has to go to a neighborhood school, if mixed with wrong company, maybe end up doing poorly under the highly competitive education system, worst case end up ITE then need to work hard to go back Poly then to Uni.
Student B also scored 219, goes to ACS Int, did IB at a suitable pace, less stressful, smaller class size and caring teachers, IB results turn out decent enough, directly enter a choice Uni.
Here's another group, a few of my dd1's classmates are already planning to go Int schools instead of Eunoia JC. This group is likely to score above 250 but have opted for Int school because the local system is deemed too stressful & competitive. One of them is an avid sports player and wants to allocate more time for her sports.
So our plan for DD1:
1). SCGS IP
2). SCGS O
3). International school. Unlikely to go back to secular neighborhood school. -
i know of a friend whose kids all attended SJI international after psle. no offence but if child can’t go back to affiliated secondary and parents can afford, the 2 options are 1) SJI or ACS international 2) overseas.
