TP laptops list is not available yet and its road show will only be 24/4~28/4.

I googled and realised that all the brands, models and prices offered to NP, NYP, RP and SP students are the same (with only exception that Macbook Air is not available at RP). I guess TP will also have the the same models.

when will your daughter be starting school? i thought most polys will start term on 10/4?

orientation is from 17/4~21/4 (so called Week 0). Term will start on 24/4 (Week 1)
School term starts 24/4 and road show that same week? Looks like it will be quite a rush to get the laptop. I received an SMS to make an appointment at the IT side to download some software/applications after getting the laptop. It would be advisable to get the laptop earlier and get the software downloaded before school term starts. As parents, we feel very happy for our kids to get to do the course they want.

Yes, you can if the IT is willing to entertain you. Some students may use their laptops from secondary schools (or from home) and need not buy a new one. Week 1 is mostly introductory lecture and may not necessary require the use of laptop.
dd just received email from poly that her DAE is successful.

The poly's webpage for checking the status of DAE outcome has also been updated to \"Successful\"; Course Acceptance Dateline is 28/2/2017.

Good Luck to everyone waiting for the outcome.

            Which poly and course?

            TP, Culinary & Catering Management
hi Mr Bean,

            Congratulations to your child šŸ™‚
noticed that Polytechnic offer new, interesting courses!

besides Culinary & Catering Management course, are there similar food-related courses in Poly, say, kind of similar to Shatec courses : where they teach students direct hands-on-cooking skill, so students have to cook inside the kitchen & prepare sumptuous meal (restaurant standard) ?

if Yes, which Poly offer such courses ?

Best of luck to your dd, slmkhoo. Interesting courses and looks like suit her. Writing, like her mommy šŸ˜„

She likes writing her own stuff (fiction), and is usually resistant to writing things that other people tell her to write (like essays). I hope, if she get into the course, that she will be prepared to learn and practice writing other types of material as required. Me, I'm no good at fiction - not enough imagination!

Congratulations, simkhoo & your daughter šŸ™‚

It has a very small intake - 45. We think she doesn't have much chance of being accepted as we have received feedback that she did not perform well at the test and interview and they have a lot of good applicants. We are exploring other possibilities too.

Did your girl get into Creative Writing Diploma or the 2nd option Mass Communication?

Yes, NYP offers Diploma in Food & Beverage Business (intake 66).
TP's intake of Diploma in CCM is 60.
                    Both intakes are relatively small.
RP offers intake of 115 for Diploma in Culinary & Restaurant Operations.

I think Shatec provides more hands-on for culinary. The polys courses are more like half culinary/ half management. The polys also teach stuff like cafe or restaurant management covering costings, kitchen hygiene, applying required licenses etc for graduates who may be interested to operate their own business.

dd prefers TP's curriculum and also we live just next to TP.

She has been offered RP's Mass Comm but still waiting for SP to reply. We also applied to NUS/NTU in the end just to see - if she can get in, it may be more suitable than Mass Comm.

                        tks slmkhoo for sharing.
Mass Comm seems popular in many institutions.
