... Reason being, my address registered in NRIC is within 1 km but my wife's registered address is still with her mother's home address which is more than 2km.
If your wife is staying with you, you should be aware that she is running afoul of the http://statutes.agc.gov.sg/aol/search/display/view.w3p;page=0;query=DocId%3A%22c1340a15-b22e-46b6-b550-e33ae773981e%22%20Status%3Ainforce%20Depth%3A0;rec=0. Read Sections 8(1) and 13(1)(b).
Better get it changed asap. -
The primary school which I'm registering with has advised me to change my wife's address to reflect the same as the husband. They do not want to be questioned by MOE on the eligibility of the home-distance category.

I think there's a minimum occupancy period prior to registration only if you want to get a place in P2B through grass root members, there's also minimum occupancy period after registration only if there's ballot in the phase you registered.Need some advice.
My girl is 5 years old , and will need to register for P1 next year for enrolment in 2019.
Our new property is only expected to TOP in Q4 2018 or Q1 2019. Would it impact the eligibility of registration for the school which is within 1KM of our new property?
I read that there is a minimum occupancy period (30 months).

If its true, I may have to start looking for a place to rent near the area now.
This is just my understanding after previous researches, of course MOE can give you better and firm answer. -

You can find answer to this in MOE FAQ.
Is very simple, just use your new address which is within 1km of the school to register. As long as TOP completed by end of your child P2 year, you can use new address of uncompleted project. Just bring you sales agreement etc to support your new address.

I have purchased a yet-to-be completed property and should be moving in after the property is completed. Can I make use of the new home address for the purpose of registration?
Yes.
The new home address can be used provided that you are able to produce evidence from the relevant authority that you have committed to the purchase of this property. In addition, you have to sign a letter of undertaking to move into the new property within two years of the child's entry into P1.
In the case of private property, you must produce the certified true copy of the Sales and Purchase Agreement. For the 2016 Primary One (P1) Registration Exercise, the date of commitment by the developer in the Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP) must not be later than 31 December 2018.
In the case of Housing & Development Board (HDB) flat, the Customer Copy of the Agreement for Lease is required. For the 2016 Primary One (P1) Registration Exercise, the Delivery Possession Date must not be later than 31 December 2018.
A child who has made use of the TOP or DPD home-distance category priority to secure a place in a school is required to stay at the new address for at least 30 months starting from the time the family moves into the property. For example, if the child registers in 2016 and only moves into the new address in July 2018, the 30 months stay period starts from July 2018. -

Hi aobisi,thanks floppy.
currently looking at onemap, other than Gan Eng Seng, the rest are considered 1-2KM.. haa.. i am surprised Alexandra is 1-2KM
looks like option b is chop-stamped the way to go unless i find a place nearer the school.
saw the questions.
I also stay nearby that area. Can i check with you that for Gan Eng Seng and Alexandra, which primary sch is better?
Thanks in advance. -
Dear All,
Do i need to be in my rental place before P1 registration or can i move in maybe 1 or 2 months before P1? Cos the rented property i am looking will still be occupied until September. Can a tenancy agreement be sufficient? Or do i have to look for another location to start tenancy before p1 enrolment period?
Thank you -
Sorry tenancy agreement is not sufficient. The school will look at your IC address. So u gotta move in physically. At least the utilities bill must be in your name & use this to go down to police station to change your IC address the month before registration phase 1 starts. Usually end June each year I think.
