All About Primary Schools' Balloting History

Mummytang:
It depends how far your house is from Fairfield...if <1km u still can PV & pray no balloting in your year. If Dragon year don't bother. The plus side of doing PV is that u get to observe whether the school culture is what u want for your child. I'm not sure how things are at Fairfield now after the good principal left...zac's mum:
Hi there, last year phase 2B Fairfield balloting for SC at 1-2km: https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/article/queenstown/
Henry Park no balloting but that's probably because there are very few PVs or GRLs: https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/article/bukit-timah/
Nan Hua no balloting last year but could be due to Tiger year fewer \"Chinese\" parents had babies: https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/article/clementi/
Qifa recent years by phase 2CS has zero places left. Last year at phase 2C balloting for SC >2km (see same link as Nan Hua).
Thanks a lot zac's mum!
Looks like I should not consider PV at Fairfield as it might be risky...? -
very nervous now, next year have to register my daughter and doing as much read up as possible.
Does anyone know :
if i were eligible for school A for phase2-a2 but i choose to go for another school B.
If I didnt make it for school B, would I still allowed under phase2-a2 in school A or would it be considered as phase 2C(S)?
This registration phases are really complicated lol. -
janet88:
Among these schools compare to Queenstown primary, which do you all recommend? We are living within 1KM to QSP.Alexandra primary within 1km...confirm have to ballot.
Now those born 2 Jan also register with those born the year before.
Looks like the other options will be zhangde, gan eng seng, chij kellock. -
seriallain85:
If you cannot get the school you wanted in any Phase, you can always try again in the next Phase, provided there are still vacancies and you qualify for the next Phase. And no, you only get ONE chance per Phase. No going back to change your choice once the Phase is closed.very nervous now, next year have to register my daughter and doing as much read up as possible.

The phases work in sequential order. Start with Phase 1, then 2A1, 2A2, 2B, 2C, 2Cs and lastly, 3.very nervous now, next year have to register my daughter and doing as much read up as possible.

Once the particular phase is over, you can't go back. If you decide to go for a school in 2C and you fail to get it, you will move on to whatever schools are left in 2Cs. -
wow. balloting is really quite exciting and complicated!

Hello parents…
It’s going to be my first time doing the primary 1 registration…
I have 2 doubts…if any kind parent can help me…
1) Can I say register for Phase 2B(2) then…register for phase 2C for another school when registration opens?
2) Do I need to cancel my slot in phase 2B(2) then go for the ballot in phase 2C at another school?
Please advise…
Thanks. -
Miracle13:
Yes, you have to cancel/withdraw and you won't be able to get the seat back if you fail in Phase 2C. You'll have to move on to your next preferred school in Phase 2C(S) and usually there won't be many seats left.Hello parents...

hi!
been a long time since I’ve logged in.
Looking at the balloting history for MGS in 2016, am I safe to conclude that for phase 2A(1), there will definitely be NO balloting?
a bit scared lah, I stay >2km away.
Thanks -
So far the historical trend says it’s safe. If registering this year, u should be fine. Anyway u can usually get some insider info from your Alumni management rgdg how many have daughters born in same year as yours.
If yours is a Dragon baby registering next year though…u can probably expect more applicants than seats.
