Asking on behalf of a friend.

Friend is staying next to Aitong and son is currently studying in Aitong. He also has 2 younger girls.

Should he register his daughters in Aitong or St Nic? His wife is an alumni of St Nic.

If logistic arrangement is not an issue, and within 2km to SNGS, choose SNGS. That said, better see what is the 2017 situation with the alumni scheme (2A1). If got to ballot even within 2km (so far only ballot > 2km), then Ai Tong being the safe option is undoubtedly better.

Their son currently studying in ai Tong?
Submit the siblings form to ai Tong under phase 1, first, to ensure a place at ai Tong.

Wait until last day of phase 2A1.

If no need to ballot at St nick, for her distance from home to school: withdraw from ai tong, enrol into St nick

If have to Ballot, then stick to ai Tong

            Thanks floppy & phttph,

I forgot about the possibility of a likely balloting for St Nic under alumnus phase! I do not think his current house next to Aitong is within 2km of St Nic.

the kids registering for p1 next year belong to dragon baby batch. St Nic might be risky. better to secure under phase 1 which is guaranteed.

Oh yes, dragon baby batch, didn't consider that. Perhaps I was just thinking that it's a waste to give up a place in St Nic which is a very good pri school with affiliation to a good secondary Sch.

Hi all, I'm a newbie here also and have a dragon boy. For grassroot leader application, when would be the deadline? My hubby studied abt 2 years in Queenstown Primary school then he was overseas with his parents for 1-2 years. After he returned to SG, he continued with another primary school. If he wants to register alumni for Queenstown Primary, possible? Thanks

In fact, your boy has the choice of both schools if your hubby still has the report books of both schools.

For Queenstown, there's no need to register as an alumni (to qualify for P2A1). Phase 2A2 is safe, too, and all you need is your hubby's report book.

Hence, my opinion that if there's no balloting for 2A1 (within 2km), then go for it. If balloting is involved, stick to Ai Tong. If your friend's place is around or next to Ai Tong, the address should fall between 1km to 2km from SNGS.

i am thinking of the same thing too...especially since there are 2 girls and there is affiliation but it's risky to give Ai Tong a miss when it is guaranteed under Phase 1.

For what it’s worth, the birth rate for Dragon babies in 2012 was 42663, which was a far cry from the 2000 Dragon babies (46997). So the competition may be intense, but not THAT intense. MOE is likely to increase the vacancies for the schools, so don’t worry too much at this moment.
