      ziltransformer:
where can I find any template or reference to build the portfolio for DSA ?

Don't think there is any fixed template but this is the content of the portfolio which my daughter did last year...

      1. Personal Particulars
Include name, birthdate, address, religion, hobbies, contact, etc
      2. Get to know me...
Do a write-up (required for some schools, limited to a certain number of words). Talk about yourself, what are your aspirations, why u want to go to the school, actually anything...handwritten...
      3. Testimonial
A good testimonial from the Form Teacher and preferably signed by the Principal will add a lot of credits. Try to ask for one.
      4. Academic results
Attach P4, P5 and P6 mid year report cards
      5. National academic awards
Attach national academic awards/certificates, examples.. edusave scholarships, EAGLES, character awards, Queen's commonwealth essay competition, etc...
      6. Leadership or CCA accolades
Showcase photos, things done in school as a student leader like Head Prefect/Prefect, Monitor, President/V.President of clubs, Captain of sports etc
      7. Other certificates and awards
Sports accreditation, Taekwando belt/grade, Music, Piano ABRSM grades, photographic awards, etc

Attach photos, hand drawn pictures, graphics and place everything in a file, with a proper content, numbered pages and use easy to view format...my daughter use a transparent pocket file ...make the portfolio interesting with a eye catching cover...

Many says, and I would agree, most schools do not even flip through the portfolio... However, we believe if you make it interesting enough, and spend good effort, perhaps.. it will help at least to get enough attention for someone to flip though it and maybe be lucky enough be called in for first interview. Maybe the portfolio did helped my DD... but who knows, anyway, the experience of doing it together, the bonding is already worth it.

The cover letter is important. Highlight your child’s achievement and how they can contribute to the school. Ensure that it is eye catching.

          hi All,

My gal is in the Gymnastic school team this year (P6) and she would like to pursue further in secondary school.
We are staying at the East. Is there any secondary school in East that offer Gymnastic CCA? Or it is usually require to enroll via DSA? Thank you.

ACSI confirmed this year’s 2017 cohort will hv HAST. This will cease in 2019.

Total enrollment will be 405 - 48 places (20%) vacancies for Express & 82 (up to 50%) vacancies for IP applicants during DSA.

For Centralised posting after PSLE - 192 for express & 83 for IP applicants.

IP is purely merit-based & will not hv any affiliation benefits.

I have friends whose kids receive invitation letter to tea with principals, some multiple schools (mainly sports). Do these kids have almost confirmed chance DSA-Ing to these schools?

Nope, I wouldn't even say it's better chances. It still hinges on the interview... my personal experience with DD DSA last year. The session is useful for seeking clarifications to the school's culture and program. Some parents ask about the intensity of training and how the school can help their kids to cope with the studies... etc....

Hi, can I check if HAST is meant for all who wants to apply DSA to ACSI. How about those applying thru sports or violin, need to take HAST?

It's applicable if applying for IP. So if taking express route don't need to take HAST. The HAST is administered test to sieve out ability/aptitude for IP. This is irrespective to domains for DSA. It's just for IP.

HAST applicable till 2018. HAST will be discontinued for 2019 intake.
