No offense to students of RVH n TJC, but they are indeed underperforming as IPJCs. Maybe they should also merge? šŸ˜‰

Location for RV High and TJC are far apart : RV in the west (Jurong) TJC in the east, distance made it hard to merge.

If poor-performing A level results JCs shut down, weak academic students forced to go to poly, study a relevant skill-based Diploma, can enter workforce readily upon graduation, with relevant, ready skills to offer to the industry concerned

Pardon me, It's Report from ST dated 20/4/17.

I went to check it out more from this link: http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/nanyang-jc-edges-out-rivals-in-tense-big-quiz
Looks like NYJC does have the ability to outbeat an IPJC like RVHS? :congrats:

The next round will be held at TJC.

          http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/dunman-wins-big-quiz-in-close-battle

Am glad that unlike you, parents/supporters of DHS didn't make comments like 'DHS does have the ability to outbeat top JC like XX'..

Is there a need to keep comparing?

Cos if you look at JC's COP: http://www.straitstimes.com/sites/default/files/attachments/2016/01/29/st_20160129_amcutoff29_2027059.pdf

The 4 JCs that are closed down, er, I mean, 'merged' with others are those with double digit COP. TJ is still not that unpopular lah.

Moreover, RVH is a pure IP school while the other is a JC with a few IP classes, not exactly similar.

Errrr, I think you miss my sarcastic poke at them!!!!

Joke aside, honestly, nothing is impossible if MOE does make such decisions. Were the public consulted before any decisions were made? I don't think so.

Does anyone happen to have any insider info about the DSA into Nanyang JC through Robotics? How easy will it be to get in (the requirement seems quite stringent judging by the good performance)? šŸ˜“

My neighbour's DD is currently sec 4, vice-president of her school Infocomm and Robotics Club, and want to take a try. Understand that NYJC did offer DSA via Robotics for the past few years, but strangely this year robotics is not stated there. According to the CCA updates they state just apply as per normal and state it under \"Others\" and specify is DSA by Robotics.

Their website is https://sites.google.com/site/roboticsnanyangjc/ as printed on their openhouse brochure.

Think most JCs allow that, as long as you show talent or capacity in the area you applied for and that the college can support you on it (if not then idk what to say lah). Just submit and see how it goes. Just call the college directly to confirm on the procedures if unsure, cfm der staff will be more den willing to help.
