Technology and Coding Enrichment
-
I am Jiansheng and I have taught Computer Elective Programme in RI for the past 6 years. Regarding the importance of coding, I would say it is not urgent important like there will be an exam coming up. However, students who learn to code develop computational thinking (higher order thinking skill) and problem solving skills. Those who can code can also create products (games, apps or even just a website) which can be a useful portfolio in our digital world.

Hi, peeling off from another similar thread ... For the logical or coding-inclined, you may like this U.S. site for young children code.org (https://code.org/learn). You will find the examples easy to follow and easy to share with your child. Well, I had fun with them. Some of the ones my kid liked to practice, are :
- Starwars (BB8) https://hourofcode.com/star-wars
- Frozen https://hourofcode.com/frzn
- Moana https://hourofcode.com/moana
Do you folks have other kids-friendly coding sites to recommend ? Thanks. -
If you want to start your child on coding, there's this new educational technology start-up called Codefolio that can help!
They are holding Coding Workshops for kids aged 10 and above. During this workshop, kids will be guided to code out their very own game in Python.
They are able to organise a group workshop near your HDB/condo or have a 1-on-1 session.
If you're interested, find out more about it on https://www.facebook.com/Hello.Codefolio/
Here's the registration form too! https://codefolio.typeform.com/to/XaPRnP
Thank you and have a great weekend!

Any parents here sent their kids for robotics based programmes? From what I understand there is coding involved as well but kids get to learn about electronics and mechanics too
