Thks for replying lonerunner! I believe you are one of the parents there? How do you find the principal and teachers there? I hope it is not a stressful school with too much emphasis on academics.

            @pebbles77

I like the principals, and teachers whom I have met so far.
They have this warm, encouraging, enthusiastic, approachable personality that warms hearts.
That was what made my child insisted on going ALPS after visiting shortlisted schools during open house/ dialogue day before P1 registration period then.
My child enjoys going to school for classes (even during review time πŸ˜‰ )and has lots of fun participating in house events/games/activities during recess/programs etc.

I find that the teachers whom had taught my child appeared to be quite experienced handling children with different learning nature/preferences.
Their advice towards both academic and non academic aspects are pragmatic.
They put in lots of efforts to systematically teach a concept from step 1 before introducing higher order questions with a variety of question type for deeper understanding of a topic.
Teachers will work with the students on how to approach a question and how to solve them.
e.g. usage of maths ruler to draw bar charts and how to label the values in systematically and neatly.
e.g. how to write a compo - plan what and how to write for para 1, para 2 etc.
Teachers will document down homework for the day on board to avoid over assignment of the day's homework.

The parent support group is strong in school.
Parent volunteers will support teachers in various activities e.g. act as a chaperone for P1/P2 hike, P4 camp etc
I feel that parent involvement often plays an important factor and role in the well being of the child in school.

            Hope the details helps

            Cheers

Alexandra primary is a favourite hot school, full house by end of Phase 2C. No chance for Phase 3

:goodpost: parental involvement is necessary so that the teachers' coaching is reinforced at home.

At end of each registration day, MOE will tabulate and release total registered from/about 7pm.
                        URL: https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies#Bukit-Merah

For latest registration figure during the day, call school directly.
