I bought 2 smaller pig trotters to make broth. need apple cider vinegar to extract the goodness from bones, youtube says wor. I dunno if the kids will like it. i m thinking maybe put abit of oil and add some garlic, ginger and scallion then add the soup. planning to try for the egg with cold bath and home made charsiew. noodle, just use the normal noodle will so la, feel lazy today wanna do some reading up.
What is egg with cold bath? You making bone broth? Any particular reason why? I have been doing it on and off for years now. No need to follow the angmoh method strictly. Our Asian style slow-boiled soup is also very good. The only thing to take note of is to use bones with some marrow and cartilage.
Your broth may turn out very oily, either skim off the fats, or put in the fridge overnight to remove the fats.

Nothing to be guilty about , even watching tv is not a guilt crime la.
Just b careful dun let your girls over eat n grow fat fat lei :p.
Make so much food , can finish ?

mummy's cooking is healthy. as long as kids enjoy, putting on a little weight during the holidays is fine.

Not always! I am making bacon fried rice for my boys - i don't think that is very healthy at all šŸ˜“ just maybe less unhealthy than a commercial version.[/quote]i like also but no, never fried bacon for them. the most they get is luncheon meat once in a while which they really enjoy. think my dd2 eats it not more than 5 times till now.

i prefer use normal ribs for broth , prefer this rib taste compared to bone broth , n the oil fr bone … i scared.

bone broth is more economy for making soup , the hawkers use this for their soup base.

i think i din feed my kids a lot of bakes, cakes, pastries n sweet stuff , thats why they so lean & under weight- my ds also dun like such food. when i baked, only dd entertain my cakes , but she got popeye's wife genes , no impact on her weight šŸ˜‰

actually I do enjoy baking, but no one here eats much cakes and such as well. Besides when you're the one baking, you realise how much sugar goes in and that kind of stops me from eating it too.

DH suddenly starting buying packets of it. For a while I was making bacon egg toast for their breakfast. DS2's bacon has to be defatted. :faint:

coz i m thinking of Jap ramen. so thought of googling for it. din know need so many hours/even days to simmer the soup. no way i could do that. usually i do the chinese version. buy big bones to add in. yes, very oily esp the one at the joints. I cooked the mutton soup the other day, more oily I find. For the mian soup, I saw few recipes using the knuckles plus bones for the broth. so just get 2 smaller ones, after that I will take out and cook it with more ginger and vinegar, for collagen šŸ˜‚

sugar is the first ingredient i slash. recipe asking for 150g, i will likely put 50g and substitute the 100g bal with nuts and unsweetened cocoa powder for eg. unless when the sugar is to be used to beat the egg white to stiff peak then that difficult to chg. yes after own baking, i m more careful with eating cakes from outside..after we know sugar contents.

after I started baking/cooking more at home, I find more drinks/dessert/cakes outside are abit too sweet for me.

there's goodness from big bones..the other day i was at ntuc..a pretty mama kept picking up packets of big bones say her son is coming back home (think from NS ba)..she use it together with other meaty bones to cook soup.
