      Academic progress report usually is available before booking of PTM so we can decide whether to go for PTM or not. However, I am not sure about this year.

      That's good to know. In ds' pri sch, certain years I would get the report book during the PTM. I'm not so aware of how ds is doing academically nowadays since he doesn't update me regularly. Thus, I would rather receive the progress report before the PTM, or at least have the grades reflected in Stamford before the meeting.

      Totoally agree!

        What is the mean GPA for Year 3? It seems like many kids' GPA dropped a lot from Yr 2 to Yr 3, perhaps due to the big change in number of subjects and depth of the subjects. What is the mean GPA, and what is considered a good GPA for Year 3?

        Ya, I am also interested to know. My son's GPA definitely dropped esp for Mother Tongue. The MT teacher said they are preparing them for the O Levels next year. :faint:

          DS is in Year 4. I didn't hear any GPA drops in any of his friends from Year 2 to Year 3 :? But his is different batch from your batch. Could it be the tests/MYCT for Year 3 are harder this year? But his HMT GPA dropped :faint:

              HAPPY 194th BIRTHDAY !! :rahrah:

              https://s14.postimg.org/732okr0kh/IMG_6651.jpg\">

              Today marks 194 years since our bold beginnings in Bras Basah! !

              At six o’clock on the morning of 5 June 1823, a ceremony was held outside the building that was to house the Singapore Institution. Sir Stamford Raffles placed a gold rupee in a cavity that had been cut in the foundation stone. Other attendees also put money in the stone, and it was sealed with a tin cover welded by a Chinese smith. The stone was placed beneath the doorway of the Institution, and as the door was raised a salute of 12 guns was fired from a hill.

              This was to be Raffles’ last public act on Singapore; he left the island on 9 June 1823.

              ++++++++++++

                Hi, any experienced parents can tell me more about CCA? I am a bit confused. I know that we do not need the 2 points to go Jc. My ds is in sports. I notice the teacher i/c is very strict on the attendance. Something like a max of 1 letter from parents & the rest can only be MC, per month. They also need to do VIA but I am not sure is it compulsory or not. My ds tries to attend everything but what will he achieve in the end? Whereas my friend’s ds is very relaxed. He is in ug which is 2 times a week. During this June holiday, her ds was supposed to attend 2 times but he didn’t go. My friend has no intention of writing any letters to inform the teacher i/c too because no one requested for one. Thanks in advance.

                  There will always be CCAs that are more "on" and those that are more "slack". And for sports, there is competition season, so training is intensified around the season. I think the choice of CCA is very important. The child must like it and enjoy spending time in that activity. My son loves his CCA (which is a surprise to me). He is in the Exco and is given leadership responsibilities to organise things and train his juniors. I am very happy see him grow this way and I think these are important life skills he needs, not just the academics.

                  I am not sure if his teacher is strict. But I see it more like a student led CCA, teachers doing the adult admin and liaising.

                    Thanks lalaland for your reply.

                    My ds was super excited when he was selected as he had no experience at all. He doesn’t mind going for his trainings.
                    How about VIA? Is it compulsory or the boys need to meet a minimum number of hours?
                    TIA.

                        Yesterday? My daughter only gets hers today, she said. She got her Physics results yesterday. Anyway, there's still more than 3 mths to go, so this round is really just to show them if they're on the right track.
