Hi!!hi! we just booked SQ air tix to Tokyo,fly back from Osaka end nov-early dec for 2 weeks..

need advice on itinerary, transport & hotels!!
1st time free & easy to Japan..super blur & lost now
we have 2 adults, & a 12-yr old gal & a 8yr old boy

24th nov FRi 2355 fly to Tokyo, reach 26th Nov Sat 7.30am:
very very rough itinerary:
Day 1)26th nov sat: hakone, check in hotel..need recommendation on transport from air port to Hakone, & ryokan..

Day 2) 27th Nov SUn: Mount FUji
day 3)28th Nov Mon: check out & transfer to hotel near/partner of Disneyland(need transport+hotel advice)
Day 4) 29th Nov Tue: DisneyLand
Day 5) 30th Nov Wed DisneySea
Day 6+7, thur+fri: where else interesting to go in tokyo?? Nissin cup noodle??
Day Sat : go kyoto & osaka around 7days, till Fri 8th Dec 2330 fly back from Osaka
(still unsure whether going Universal Studio..)

anyone can share their itinerary or give any advice on itinerary ?
how do i travel from tokyo to Kyoto??
do i need the JR Pass??

How many days in total ? If you have more days you may want to go to snow monkey.

You have to take Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto. You have to do some calculation on the fare and see if it's worth to get a JR pass. Check the fare here http://www.hyperdia.com.

coz we reach Sat,early morning..so do not want to go disneyland on Sat+Sun..

Hihi Juz Mum, ya,it's the 1st time we taking such a long vacation..since hubby say he can finally take long leave,
i just went ahead to book..need a good reward trip after PSLE !!
but now stress over planning itinerary and checking on transport, hotels etc...
we flying in to tokyo, so not sure how to go hotel from osaka airport..
but we flying back from osaka, so also need check how to go kansai airport from hotel..
so far, i think can take train, if not wrong...

& thanks for suggestion on Sanrio Purio land..think my gal should be interested..
is that in tokyo? or osaka?? should be tokyo??:)

Looking at your intended schedule I feel it is a bit ambitious but anyway (there are enough things to do in Tokyo that you may have to miss if you have to rush to Osaka etc. So just depending on individuals' liking as for me I will cover as much Tokyo and nearby as possible then next trip cover as much Osaka/nearby as possible).

If you are going to snow monkey, you may wanna look at booking this ryokan place:

Last year I went in a group of 9 pax in late December and stayed 3 nights there with 1 day to see snow monkey and 2 days skiing (ski place nearby).

Not sure of the prices as fully paid by my daughter but I understand prices are reasonable (think available at agoda / booking.com).

We were lucky to have heavy snow during our visit (since the purposes were to see the snow monkeys and to ski and so snowfall volume was important):

It seems to be it's always more worthwhile to get the JR pass if you are getting out of Tokyo.

This little hotel is good for Tokyo stay(small but clean and neat) if you don't fancy to stay around Orchard-belt kind of 5-star hotels. If those Disneyland hotels are expensive, you may actually stay out of that expensive area as your kids are not really so 'small' and can afford a bit of travelling in train.

Remark: Think there are 2 or more Suidobashi hotels and so if you wanna try, make sure you book the correct one at Hongo, Bunkyo-ku.

Its an about 5 min walk to train station (red line Kurakuen Station. Above the station, there is a big Daiso),
next to a 3 or 4 storey 24-hr Donki (http://www.donki.com/en/)
opposite Tokyo Dome theme park (https://www.tokyo-dome.co.jp/e/),
opposite Laqua Shopping Mall with a reasonable priced and good onzen / spa (http://www.laqua.jp/pages/en/spa.html).

You will have enough things to do whenever you are back in the hotel and while your kids are resting (provided you still have the energy).

From this hotel location to go to national heritage, Ameyoko market (http://www.ameyoko.net/map/), you can cab there at about 1,000+ yen (can also take a train there but then since you have 4 pax, it is more worthwhile to cab). Asakusa is also only a few train stations away. If you only have time to visit one of these, I will choose Ameyoko market over Asakusa. I will rank Ameyoko above Tsukiji fish market.

You are flying to Osaka (KIX) or Itami (ITM) from Tokyo, or are you considering the train? :?

Sanrio purio land is in Tokyo.
Your girl will love it, more so if she's a hello kitty fan.

Don't worry, getting around tokyo is quite easy.

As for osaka airport transfer, it's ok as we plan to go Hokkaido instead.
