      hello experts!

can i just ask for advice on the following scenario:

we are residing with 1km from ACSP and within 1-2km from ACSJ. my husband is methodist so we should be entering under phase 2B for the p1 registration. my son is also SC.

on the day of 2B registration, will it make sense if my husband queues at ACSP while i queue at ACSJ. i am just thinking given the stats for 2016, it seems like we might run into a situation whereby balloting is required in ACSP under 2B within 1km for SC.

any advice will be very appreciated! thanks!

Yes, it's a valid strategy. It means you'll register on the last day of Phase 2B registration period. Please note that in the last 2 years, ACSP escaped balloting because a lot of applicants are similar to you. At the end of the day, they decided not to ballot in ACSP and register in ASCJ instead.

I was there 2 years ago to monitor the situation in Phase 2B. By the time I left ACSP at around 4pm, they were about to go into balloting for those within 1km as there was still 1 extra SC applicant, but in the end 1 of them decided to pull out and go to ACSJ and the rests of the parents were safe.

Please note that either you or your husband will have to rush to the preferred school as they need both your original NRICs to register. Also original BC and the letter from the church. I can't remember whether they need your church membership certificate or not. I think you should just bring it along.

I would like to add on to galaxy Raiders’ post above. Last year the situation happened at phase 2B where:

There was 1 extra SC applicant living within 1km at ACSP, nobody pulled out. So they all went into balloting. Be prepared for that possibility in your year.

apologies! theres a mistake in my initial post.

i meant to say that we are residing within 1km from ACSP and within 1-2km from ACSJ. therefore, will it makes sense if my husband stations himself at ACSP and i will be at ACSJ?

            thanks!

No matter where you station yourself, the objective is just to monitor the situation and get \"live\" updates from the school admin. But once you decide which school to register, both of you still need to gather because the school needs all your original documents. So please take note of the traffic, etc. Don't be late or you'll be kicking yourself if you miss the registration window.

Yes. And the one who can drive faster should be stationed at the less preferred school...

hahahahaa. ok thanks peeps! i will discuss with my husband.
i am only worried that because we are 1-2km of ACSJ, we might need to ballot also if we withdraw from ACSP (within 1km).
so if we run into the balloting situation at both schools then its abit meaninglesss...

Hi. Due respects to already anxious parents in other phase I am registering under phase 2A(1) under alumni. Whilst there is no history yet of balloting at this phase but for last year 2016 registration, balloting happened at phase 2A(2)! Anyone has any advice or suggestions if this may now happen even at phase 2A(1) or that this is unlikely to occur :?

                        MOE's website states this (https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases) :

Balloting will be conducted if the number of applications to a school exceed the number of vacancies during any phase from Phase 2A(1) onwards.

It can happen in Phase 2(A)1 if the number of remaining vacancies after Phase (1) registration is less than the number of applicants applying for Phase 2A(1).

                        Example
Remaining vacancies after Phase (1) registration is 100 but there are 120 applicants under Phase 2A(1) and nobody is withdrawing. Depending on the proximity from school of these 120 applicants, those SCs > 2 km will face the highest chance of balloting
                        .

In this case, no chance for anyone to register under Phase 2A(2) already. :yikes:

                        Hope this helps. 😄
