The reason why this can't be done is because it will affect other sets of parents. Thanks all for your response.
Indeed we must think differently and out of the box to be successful in life.
What I'm trying to do is obtain a place in 2A1 and simply swapping it with another set of parents also secured in 2A1. I don't see that as detriment or breach of system or unfair as both of us are giving up alumni entitlements in exchange for better logistics for our sons. It is NOT an attempt to swap before securing our respective places.
In the end of the day, it's a win-win situation and MOE/Schools do not lose too because they wouldn't know
the merit of each student. If kids are allowed to transfer at P2/P3 then I don't see why they cannot transfer before enrollment if both parents are consenting?
If you have secured a place in 2A1, it will affect the available seats in 2A2 onward. If you release the secured seat, someone else from 2A2, 2B, 2C etc should get the released seat. So if you release it to an outsider who should not be in the queue in the first place, it's unfair to those who are in the queue based on their merit. -
merit?

R99:
i think galaxyraider is referring to privilege for those who get to register in phases from 1 to 2B.merit?
: ) -
R99:
Sorry, I meant privileges such alumnus but not alumni members (2A2), as association with clan/church (2B), distance to school, etc.merit?
: )
e.g.: If you have secured a place in 2A1 and total seats for 2A2 is 40 (just for example). So if there are 41 applicants, 1 of them would be balloted out. If you give up your secured seat before 2A2 starts, that 1 seat will go to 2A2 so no balloting needed. But if you swap your secured seat, it's unfair for that 1 parent in 2A2. And so on... I just simplify the example as most likely the affected seats will be in 2B. -

I sarpok you.

We should start a student exchange like the stock exchange.
Maybe CHS place to trade for a spot in AMK primary school less $1,000, or ACS place to trade for a place in CHS plus $100
It is NOT an attempt to swap before securing our respective places. At the end of the day, it's a win-win situation for everyone

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and hope to get some help from the experienced parents here.
https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/event/2016-p1-registration-phase-2c/
1) For the link I have attached, what is the meaning of Day 1/2/3? I thought the balloting is based on all those who registered online and over the 3 days at the school itself?
2) We are thinking of registering at PMLGS but we are SC >2km. According to last year's stats, it was only oversubscribed by 105% for >2km. But I'm aware that it was a tiger year so there were possibly fewer girls. Do u think we'll be taking a high risk? If we don't get in, we probably have to do 2Cs at a new school in Punggol which my hubby is strongly not in favour of. The alternatives are (a) Fairfield (Phase 2A2) but we live extremely far away from the school and (b) Punggol View (Phase 2C <1km) but has balloting for <1km.
This is really giving us a big headache!! Any advice/opinions is appreciated! -
Fairfield will probably be the choice. But of course if you think "Every school is a good school", there are waterway primary school, punggol cove primary school, oasis primary school etc around you if Punggol view goes into ballot in Phase 2C(which I highly think so)
-
Are you prepared to relocate? Rent a house near Fairfield? Or can you fetch your child to school? Why is your Hubby not in favour of new school?

There's a possibility that you don't have to wait till 2Cs to activate your contingency plan as PLMGS may require balloting within 2km.

You may want to reconsider the new schools in Punggol. Besides Punggol View, the others that Justbear mentioned like Waterway primary school, etc are worth a second look. These days, MOE understands the psyche of parents like your hubby (not willing to put child in new schools) and has learnt to up the game. Most of these schools' principals, vice-principals or HODs are transferred from established schools and come with very impressive credentials.
