If your Phase 1 or Phase 2A1 or Phase 2A2 school is Rosyth, have you checked with the school bus driver :- what time is he coming to your house, fetch your kid to school ?
Some schools in Sengkang like Sengkang primary and Fernvale primary usually have vacancies in phase 2C.
I am also considering whether to enrol my child in a new school which is within walking distance or Compassvale which is a few lrt stops away or Rosyth.
If fetch after 6 am, still ok.
The worst is : fetch around 5.30 am, that type of timing very hard to tahan, for 6 years. Unless you or yr spouse can fetch your kid in the morning to Rosyth, then take school bus one way back home, in the afternoon. -
When DD1 attended Rosyth, the pick up time was after 6 am. So, don’t think pick up time will be an issue. I just find the bus fares on the high side.
Besides Compassvale, DD1 also attended another neighbourhood school in the west. I have no issue with the school curriculum or teachers for both schools. Although not considered branded schools, they have sufficient range of ccas for their students. I also find that different schools have their strength in different areas. For example, Compassvale is strong in robotics and have niche cca like golf and harmonica whereas the other school has performed well in Odysey of the Minds.
Like many other schools, they will give additional work to the better classes and the work pace is also faster.
Rosyth is a branded school but most of the academic awards are won by the geppers. As a kiasu mother, am concerned my child will have less chance to participate in competitions if she stays in the main stream. Rosyth is also not affiliated to any Sec schools. As DD1 was a gepper, I am not familiar with the school’s curriculum for the mainstream. So can’t really comment on this aspect.
After hearing the comments on new school, I spoke to my friend who is a teacher. She also feels the structure and curriculum are still at the "trial and error" stage. So, I will most probably give the new school a miss.
DD2 is a dragon girl, so I still have some time to mull over…but right now, my preference is Compassvale. -
Hi ,
I stay in Tampines and going to register for the my elder son holding PR in near by school under 2C . Please advice is there any chance of getting in to below school .
01. St.Hilda - within 1 KM
02. Tampines primary - 1 to 2 KM . -

Sorry to say, PRs have zero chance at St Hilda's. Tampines Pri past 2 years only for SCs. The year before that had balloting for PRs 1-2km. U need to choose a less popular school for a guaranteed place.Hi ,

Every school is a good school.
You just have to go for the less popular ones. -

U can look at the history here:

Any of the schools with white (no colour) at phase 2C are very safe for PRs. -

This batch intake P1 registration going to start in July 2017, but is actually for 2018 Primary 1 intake
this year's batch registering for p1 is not tiger batch?
even if Ehlana23's hubby fetches the child to school and there is school bus on the way home, the girl will be spending long hours on the road. if she eventually goes to fairfield secondary school when hours are longer, she would still have to face a long journey going home after school and there won't be school bus.
calculation :
take 2018 - 7 years = 2011
What is the Chinese zodiac sign, of kids born in 2011 ?
2011 is year of the Metal Rabbit (not Tiger), may refer -

Most people love rabbit, because the nature associated with rabbit is often : gentle, mild, besides rabbit being cute, hopping around, very bubbly. All the rabbits from this batch, are getting excited, ready to hop out of their K2 kindergarten, can't wait to hop / jump onto a band wagon, geared up eagerly awaiting to go to their new Primary schools, next year January 2018.
Thus, rabbit is a popular year, for child birth.
Hence, this year expected to be ... competitive, even more so esp after MOE had reduced or cut down the number of P1 classes, in certain primary schools, as been highlighted earlier on. -

my son is born in 2000, but before CNY (which was Feb 4)....so he is not a true dragon child.
