      Hi all,

We have been hiring maids from one of the maid agency for last 6 years. This time when we hired a Indonesian transfer maid in January, she worked only for one & half months and wanted a transfer. We did mention to the agency but they were not keen in finding a transfer maid in replacement. Since the maid did not want to work,we had no maid for a month. They insisted we take a new one, which we did.The 2nd maid after working for 2months now wants to transfer as well.We seem to have been caught in a trap. The new ones who come in have adjustment problems and miss home.
The agency tells us they don’t have any transfer maids.
      What should we do?

you should have insurance for your maid. when they fall sick and if they get admitted to hospital, you wil have to pay a bomb for their medical bills.

true! i spent almost close to 2k for her medical bills..

I think having a hired help can benefit some families, especially those with parents who are both working. However, it is sop to do a sort-of background check and interview to make sure you’ll click. You’ll be seeing each other everyday so having a harmonious relationship is crucial.

If you are employing a FDW , you definitely have bought insurance for her. That is one of the conditions for a WP.

With your full-time maid, how clean is your house?

I have high expectation of cleanliness at home. Prior to my 3rd child, I have been working part-time / from home, as well as doing all the house chores, so I am definitely not the princess / queen that sit there and direct people around. In fact, since I am familiar, I know all the places that will be easily missed during cleaning.

So wonder what are the reasonable expectations. When you touch the window grill and slightly dusty, spot one or 2 rice grains below the kitchen cabinet, inside of microwave not clean, finger stain on switches…is this too much to request? Or is my maid just slow? She has been with me for 6 months, I do remind her and show her places that needs to be clean, but once in a while when I spot check, there are things not to my expectation. I will tell her nicely and she will clean it, but I am tired of doing spot-check. I have a TO do list categorized into (daily, weekly, monthly), but she seems to leave things out here and there.

I keep to this standard even without the maid.

                    Hi

Spot check is inevitable if you don’t check the maid will gradually not be doing.I do. provide a to-do checklist.Maid usually don’t follow schedule.Dust on window grilles and grains on floor Is not acceptable I will also remind maid to clean up.

                      Hi

How do you tell your Maid excessive hp usage is a concern. She has been using HP till 2am these days then sleep. She has access to her hp 24/7 and is using daytime too. Her alertness dropped and less patience, she is looking after young children.

Does anyone ever change Maid due to excessive HP usage.

Is it common for maids to be using hp excessively these days.

i sent my previous Myanmar Maid Swe Swe Htike home due to hp usage!

She was with me for 1 year 9 months. I was dumb enough to give her wifi access cause she is my first helper, thinking that she can contact her family, so we have a happy maid and happy life. I was Sooooo Wrong.

the rule given was that she can use after her chores and night. but she took me for granted. use in the day, hide in toilet. :imconstipated: Thinking that I will keep her until her 2 year contract, her attitude got worse, yawn in the day, yawn in the car.
Eventually, I started a curfew, wifi only from 8 to 11pm. after that use her own prepay. (can set wifi access timing on router if your maid used until late night.).

Of course she is not very happy, hence often give me black face. Therefore, decided to give her a big surprise by buying her a one way ticket.
