Yeah, I totally agree! Encouraging the child to do what they like is best, not just forcing them to do other jobs which they may not like.

2. Kids are not allowed to play with our smart phones/computer/laptops/pads etc
3. We also do not play/use phones/pads for entertainment purpose in the kids presence

And now the eldest is four I still think this was the right decisions. And it is so sad to see so many kids addicted to their gadgets and parents ignoring their kids because they are checking their facebook or playing game on their iPhone.

there is a limit you can control. when kids are in lower primary, maybe you can still control no phone usage...but at upper primary, you would probably give the child a mobile phone so that he/she can inform you if there are supplementary lessons after school. teachers tend to disseminate info via whatsapp...much as i hate the idea, but what can we parents do?

no mobile phones when having meals is my rule...applies to ALL, including daddy.

My 4 year son is now engrossed in creating simple games with his daddy using a free software call Scratch after reading about it on http://www.giftourprecious.com/scratch-kid-programming-programming-from-scratch/

It is definitely better than simply playing handphone games. At least he learns to create his own simple games to play.
Did any of your child also learn Scratch?

wow you gave me a brilliant idea! my husband has been going all the dirty habits my kids are picking up! maybe I should start from hubby first! :rahrah:

For 4-year old, it is quite amazing. My kid start at 6.. but still in the basics. I will like her to go deeper, but needs to stay as light hobby for now, as she needs to prepare for P1..
