LadyLady, does your son has good music achievements and strong school results? Wondering how they shortlist students for round 1…
All the best to his theory test! -
I spoken to the head in charge of dsa on last sat. He told me that if the child do not hv an academics results a range of 80-90s the kid will not likely be selected he meant be it which category the child dsa in.
So ultimately it is the academic that they are looking for isn’t it although the kid dsa via music, leadership, basketball etc? -
Ladylady:
Thanks Ladylady. The academic range of 80-90s means the average of all 4 subjects to be in the range of 80-90, or that each subject should be in the range of 80-90? That is important because some kids may do very well, like get 90s in 1-2 subjects but don't do very well, say 70s in another 1-2 subjects, and the average can still be in the 80-90 range...I spoken to the head in charge of dsa on last sat. Head of dsa of njc or another school?I spoken to the head in charge of dsa on last sat. He told me that if the child do not hv an academics results a range of 80-90s the kid will not likely be selected he meant be it which category the child dsa in.

Ladylady:
I think schools are trying to avoid the RI episode, whereby academically, students are unable to perform up to standard, but schools are unable to release them to the main stream because their subjects / lessons are not synchronized with that of the main stream schools.

Is dsa head of njc I spoke with
Oh he didn’t specifically to me on all subjects average or each subjects but I guess shld be the 3 mains subjects must be within 80-90s. He mentioned that if the child is 60-70s range then if the child is in dsa he may have a hard time catching up.
So ultimately be it dsa via music, sports or leadership it is still the academics that they will look into -
Ladylady:
Thanks LadyLady, agree that if can't cope with academics, kid would suffer if he gets into the school via DSA. My friend's latest update from NJC - they have about 500-600 applicants (for about 60-80 spots?) and they are sending email replies by batches, be it shortlisted or not shortlisted. So for those who applied njc DSA, hang-on!Is dsa head of njc I spoke with

You make it sound as if that's ultimately the criteria, which it isn't. The candidate would need to demonstrate their qualities in sports / arts / leadership.

80-90 is just an established baseline for the candidate. It's the minimum but if you can't meet the minimum, what's the point as the ultimate sufferer is still the student. -
Wow so many applicants 500-600!!!

Hi floppy that’s what he says. Not that I make it sound that criteria。
Bec when I spoke to him I hv not send in my son dsa yet. So he ask me if hv 80-90s then send in his application if 60-70 he ask me no need to send him.
