All About Church/Clan/Society Membership

Can I know what’s the Church membership all about?
My hubby and I are Christians and didn’t know anything about memberships.
What’s the terms and conditions to be a member of a church? On top of attending all the confirmation classes, do we have to contribute a fix amount of money to the church every month? -
It depends which church you’re from? I am also a Christian but unfortunately my church did not set up any schools in its history.
In Singapore there are Catholic schools, Methodist schools, Anglican schools and Presbyterian schools. Each denomination has its own rules about membership and how to qualify for Phase 2B priority. -

I think firstly, it would be helpful to understand what's your denomination. Catholic? Methodist? Kongheeist?CaYou n I know what's the Church membership all about?

My hub is Anglican and I’m baptist.
If we will to join the Anglican membership, what’s the criteria? -

We are looking at Anglican schools. Not sure how it will be like to have their membership? The church that we attended didn't have any enforcement on the amount of tithings we are giving to the church nor 10% of our salary as suchIt depends which church you're from? The 3 Anglican schools are St Andrew’s Junior (boys), St Margaret’s (girls) and St Hilda’s (co-ed). U need to check with the Anglican church that you are attending. I don’t think it is appropriate nor legal for any of the churches to impose a financial requirement for membership. The main criteria are regular attendance, and probably active participation in the care groups or serving in the church ministries for several years. But do check with your pastor to be sure. Some churches issue a formal letter for you to qualify for phase 2B. Without the letter, no priority.

Thanks for the clarification
had my phobias as heard from my current church mate whom had attended a previous church - one of the requirements is to read a pledge to contribute certain amount of tithings a year to be issued as a confirmed member of the church. :yikes:

Some churches have expensive projects to maintain, e.g. Project Crossover.

The procedure for confirmed Anglicans seem quite straightforward http://cathedral.org.sg/page/p1/ -

The proper churches would not enforce tithing. They would encourage but it's still up to the members whether to tithe or not.

If a church enforces such thing, something is fishy and it would be better to change church. -
Hi when will we be able to know if we can get the shhk letter this year before phase 2b on 17 July? We call in or they will call us? Which day to call?
Does anyone know if anyone did shhk PV for chongfu but can’t get letter?
Thank you.
