Chocochipcookiedough:
Hello CCCD,
Hi GiftedGem, Thank you for sharing with us on your personal experience. It helps alot... i agree with you, that as parents, we want the best for the child... likewise, i think kids also learn through alot of experiences through DSA too...
Especially those with sports trials etc, they can spur with the rest of the students from other schools. Personally, when my DD went through DSA a few years back, she was rather upset that she felt she did not fair well during the Arts audition. She felt pressurized with all the other \"competitors\" from other schools... We then later brought her out for ice-cream and encouraged her to have an open heart on it.. explain to her that even not through DSA, she can still apply for S1 exercise... all hopes are not lost and don't feel despair about it. A little setback will make u a stronger person. Later on, she was shortlisted for interview and it was also an experience for her...
She is Sec 3 now in an Autonomous School and she was posted to that school via S1 posting. Occasionally, she brought up the DSA experience she went through and she never regretted trying out for DSA. She told me that actually, through the trials and interview experience, she learnt alot of self-independent and resilience. She never thought that this experience had taught her beyond what she is capable of. Don't be upset with yourself or your child if it fails... your child has put in the best she can and as parents, i really felt that the encouragement and talks on how to have an open heart with my child plays an important part... (probably the ice-cream also helps in this way... it was our childhood icecream - paddlepop)
All the best for the parents' and the child's DSA... (=
Great and wonderful piece of personal sharing to many 1st time parents here, trying DSA for their children. It is never been easy for many of us, be it parents / children to accept 'unsucessful DSA' and just moved on. I like your positive atitude in life and that has instilled yr DD to be resilient and driven her to go for greater heights.
Nice to know that yr DD is of the same age as my DD ( Next yr, our girls have to take O level MT, right..... and in 3 yrs time, sitting for A Level exams ). How time flies..... -

Hello lizuan,GiftedGem, thanks.
My girl has no background of track and field but we still go ahead to submit the form because she told me she can run.
In term of academic, her result does not belongs to those 85% above. I think as long we submit the form, everyone will stand a chance to be selected.
Good luck everyone!
For NJC to open up this invitation to yr DD shows that the sch is genuine to offer to students not by academic grade or sports talent. You are giving hope to many parents here. I like the part when you mentioned 'she can run' and by faith, you went ahead to submit the form. All the best to yr DD and jiayou ! -

I just saw after logging in to the system. Another 5 more days of waiting!!
Let's all hope the best!! -
Thanks for informing those who’s Child dsa to NUSH.
Somewhat preparing DS to be ready to receive both outcomes.
Do most of the student who sat the NUSH selection test find the maths paper easier? My DS feedback after the test was that maths was tougher and he even skipped a few. Hence thinking chance are slim…
Little bit more waiting.
