[Bukit Merah] Primary Schools

aunt's neighbour at duxton rented a unit close to ACS to register the son there. although cantonment primary is very convenient for duxton residents, not many seem to be registering their kids there...it could be cantonment primary is not tested. if a top psle scholar arises from that school, it will become hot...of course such news is not allowed to be published anymore.Cantonment primary is closest to expensive Duxton 50-storey high flats.
But don't know why Cantonment : not popular, got a lot of vacancies at 2C Supp / Phase 3 -
Cantonment primary started in 2010. The pioneer batch of Psle students was last year (2016).

Maybe need to wait for top PSLE scorer from Gan Eng Seng, Blangah Rise,Cantonment Pri to surface out in order to move up the profile in BM Pri Sch cluster
Alexandra Pri would continue to attract more applications base on the profiles of P & VP.But guess thier term of service usually 5 yrs to 7 yrs would need to change. -
Hi, Are u intending to register at cantonment Pri?

Singaporeans are by nature, kiasu (the name of this forum) and kiasi. Hence, no one wants to be the guinea pig, even though it's by being guinea pigs that our pioneer generations led us to where we are today... which brings me to the second point:
But don't know why Cantonment : not popular, got a lot of vacancies at 2C Supp / Phase 3
Singaporeans are also, mostly, lemmings. Like the game, unless the chosen one alters the landscape, the rest just follow. Thus, until the powers above assigned some chosen ones (i.e. P and VP) to alter the landscape (i.e. opinions and directions), the lemmings will continue to do the same old same old. -
Alexandra primary started in 2014 primary 1, so pioneer batch of students taking psle will be in 2019 : currently 2017 P4 students.
Since Alexandra school is hot every year during P1 registration, in some years involved balloting less than 1 km under 2C -
Parents can check To find out to what extent (if any ) placing the P and VP from the 2 ex schools (Maha Bodhi & St Nick) have influenced Alexandra's (pioneering + subsequent) batches of PSLE results, in any way -
since the neighbourhood students / their parents (supposed to be supportive in their children education) / Teachers from Bukit Merah, are different from the neighbourhood of Ubi (Maha Bodhi) & Ang Mo Kio (St Nick) ?
Can Alexandra primary churn out psle results Standard, somewhat similar to what Maha Bodhi or St Nick attain ?
Besides just looking at the P and VP, should also look at the 4 individual subject HOD.
From 2014 (the year Alexandra started) until current (2017), past 3 years -
did MOE also post any heavy weight experienced HOD, from MOE HQ, into Alexandra, to head or to teach the subject department ? -

There are a few BTO projects just completed 3 years ago and SERS projects completing in 2019/2020 around Dawson and Henderson areas, I guess that is to cater for present and future influx of residents in the coming years.
but there is a cantonment primary school under this cluster which is very new too. why the need to add a APS?floppy:
The situation at APS is not unique. MOE seems to be deliberately moving experienced and sought after Ps and VPs to the newer schools in order to set up the schools. Same same for Punggol and other estates where schools that have less than 5 years of history, i.e. no graduating batch, are already facing ballot. -
In my opinion, the school will be hot for the next few years until first batch PSLE results are out.

Nowadays school empathise a lot on character development for the students. The first P and VP needs to cultivate a school culture that is conducive for students and one that can continue even after they move on to other areas in the future. The first batch of PSLE results will shape the future of the school, whether it will soar or sink, its anyone's guess.
Hopefully, the P and VP can utilise their experience in running SAP schools to shape ALPS to be more than just a neighbourhood school based on best practices from Maha Bodhi and St Nick..
