      Hi parents!

Anyone in pasir ris interested in small group tuition? I got in touch with a MOE teacher who is willing to give PSLE english tuition at her house to 2-4 students. The price will be a lot cheaper than 1-1.

Let me know soon. We hope to set up class by next week.

Sorry, I wished I had read all your requests earlier.

You can get from Popular or get them to check which school still stock these, then head down to that school to buy a copy. Schools who hv stock cannot transfer out to other Popular as copies are heavily subsidized.

Hope it's not too late for you.

                  Uncountable Nouns
The following words are uncountable nouns. They are only written in the singular form (without ‘s’). We match uncountable nouns with the singular verb.

The dance equipment is in the storeroom.
The luggage is on the conveyer belt.
                  The jewellery is valuable.
Traffic is exceptionally heavy during peak hours.

The following are quantifiers (words to show the amount of something) we use before uncountable nouns.

                  All the equipment was stolen.
Less effort is needed to climb this gentle slope than that steep one.
There is only a little traffic on the road.
Please spread some butter on the bread.
We do not have much time left to complete our project.

                  Pronouns
Pronouns are words that take the place of nouns.
Subject pronouns are who or what the sentence is about. (I, you, he, she, it, we, they)
Object pronouns are who or what receives the action in the sentence. (me, you, him, her, us, them)

She and I are in the class committee.
Jack asked Ben and me to join for lunch.
Clue: Find out if the phrase can be replaced with ‘we’ or ‘us’. If it can be replaced with ‘we’, the answer is a subject (she and I)
If it can be replaced with ‘us’, the answer is an object (me)

It was she who witnessed the accident.
Let’s keep this between you and me.
Julie is a better swimmer than I am.

                      Hello!

How was the English today? DD said paper 2 was harder than 2016 PSLE English paper 2. Composition sounded pretty all right. She wrote about a farewell party and her friends giving main character a special gift as memorabilia. Some of her friends wrote interesting plots like giving special gifts to elderly(community service), Teachers' Day Celebration, giving friend a mug signed by favourite actor for her birthday, etc.
For paper 2, my DD said there was this one question in sentence synthesis about washing the clothes which she knows she did it wrongly. Anybody knows what the actual sentence is? DD said her friend(top in English in Prelim) put : Not having washed the dishes before, Arun messed it up. (Might be slightly different, DD doesn't exactly remember what she wrote). She wrote completely differently because she misread the question :slapshead: \"Not once had Arun washed the dishes and messed it up.\"(meaning he had never messed up washing the dishes).

Cassie said that the paper was quite difficult. The compo was a walk in the park for her, though. She wrote about the main character's best friend bringing her on a treasure hunt, with a big party at the end and the character's best friend gave her a mug with her favourite singer's signature on it.

For paper 2, about that question. Cassie was whining about it when she got home. If I am not wrong, the sentence should something like:

Arun did not know how to wash the dishes. Arun mess it up.
                        ^
                        |
Now that I think about it, I don't think that was correct. | Oops. Cassie wrote:

Not only did Arun did not know how to wash the dishes, he also made a mess of it.

All in all, the paper was quite difficult this year.
