Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

Next year is dragons againSchool wise, I have no experience with PLMGS. Odd wise, TUR below 25% is more likely within 1km at 2C is doable. You can watch this year's.
The last time balloting needed for 2c within 1km is in 2006 (dragon babies) and 2007.

Hi all,
I will be registering my boy for next yr primary one under Phase 2C. Was thinking to register under Punggol Cove primary school since it will be nearer to my future home. Any feedback / comment for the school? Any chance that balloting is required? -
Hi, i met a fren yday and was told by her to start looking for a pri sch & do PV for my child now?! She said i may be late cos parents started sourcing & preparation when their child enters preschool. Is it true? My child is 4.5yo this year. Omg, I’ve no clue where to start, what to look out for, etc? Pls kindly advise. TIA.

Yes u may be a bit too late. I applied for PV when my child was K1. Why don't u start by telling us where u live (which part of SG)? Have u checked which schools are within 1km of your house according to OneMap? Then we can help u more accurately. -

Unfortunately, your friend may be right for some schools.
For the popular schools, PV (if available) application starts at least 2 years prior to registration. Therefore, you have missed the cut-off date. For the less popular ones, you may still be in time for next year. -
back then i started calling schools to apply for PV when son was in k1…and was told too early. then i applied in jan when he turned 4. called the person in charge. she told me email my occupation as well as hubby’s.
back then, the school wanted someone readily avail. some ‘jobs’ could be a few hours…so it was quite fast to chalk up hours. ultimately we did 60 hours instead of 44 because the work wasn’t hard and we like the school. -
Oh my gosh! What, where & how can I get myself started?!
Zac’s mum - I’m staying at punggol. Only know Nan Chiau & Holy Innocents are established & reputable schools. Any other recommended schools for consideration?
Floppy - Are the above considered popular? Do they have PV? How do I submit application for the PV? Usually when does the PV registration starts? -
Intruder,
You can shortlist the schools in your estate and call them to enquire if they need PVs and if they do, when and how do you should apply? -

Thk u for your advice.Intruder,

May i know how do you go about choosing the school like how to know the school is gd at which area, etc.?
What i know is choosing primary school is unlike choosing preschool where we can visit the school, talk to the teachers, etc., right? -
intruder:
This is subjective as everyone has their own preferences. Some prefer short distance from home, single-sex school, secondary-affiliated school, elite school, etc. Some don't really care and will just take any neighborhood school. What is your preference?
