Hi everyone, I am having trouble solving my daughter’s P6 math questions and need help from all you experts. Here r the questions:

              1) how many odd numbers are there in this sequence : 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, …, 1000.

              2) tanks E and F contain different volume of oil. Some oil from E was poured into F and the volume of oil in F was doubled. Then some oil from F was poured into E and the volume of oil in tank E was doubled. Both tanks now contain 19 litres of oil. What was the volume of oil in tanks E and F at first?

              Thanks in advance!

the first is a famous sequence in maths called fibonacci sequence. starting from the 3rd term onwards, every term is produced by adding the previous 2 terms.

question that appeared from my exam i am remembering this with my best ability!

                      Names differ

Tom had $200 more than Harry. In the afternoon, Tom gave some money to Harry. The ratio to the amount he had left to the amount he gave away is 2:3. In the evening, Harry gave some money to Tom. The ratio of the amount he had left to the amount he gay away is 3:1. In the end, Harry had $200 more than Tom. How much did Tom have at first?

one more question , can you please check if there is a mistake my friends and i could not even get the answer! UNDOABLE!

Tom and Harry bought some cartons of soya bean drink and herbal tea. Tom bought 3/8 of the cartons. Both of them bought 48 more cartons of soya bean drink than herbal tea. Harry bought 2/5 of the soya bean drink and 1/2 of the herbal tea. How many cartons did Tom buy?

                      Thanks for your help!

for Q1 it is solvable. but duno whether algebra is allowed for P6 exam.

In the morning, Tom has $750, Harry has $550
Tom gave away $450 to Harry, and Harry gave back $$250 to Tom.

                        check:

                        Tom: (750-450)/450 =2/3
                        Harry: (550+450-250)/250 = 3
                        in the morning:
750-550 =200, Tom has $200 more than Harry
                        In the afternoon:
                        Harry 550+450-250 = 750
                        Tom 750-450+250 = 550
Harry has $200 more than Tom
