OH no! :x IR at katong, they are the reason I went back to my old agent. Very unreliable!! and dishonest I fell out with them, be careful. I used them in 2008. The young guy that works there is ok but he take insttucftions frm the older guy thats married to a Indon chinese. I dnt know how things are today and whether the ppl are the same.

Whatever promises made u better make them write in black and white.
Most of their filipina maids are not sourced by themselves during 2008. Thy are refered by the maids in spore who are doing sideline and they go round sourcing for other maids relative and refer them to IR. The Maids get a cut of 200 bucks for each referral. Both their maids told me. So most of the filipinas that come in have sisters who refered them. Ididnt quite like the idea of direct hiring at that time but my last one turned out OK but had a heart problem. No one could tell unless U work with her. Perhaps referred maids with sisters can be ok if they are motivated.
To cut the story short, IR basically does not give good service when something goes wrong, well they will talk to the maid but eventually the oldr guy has a very selfish attitude. He believes in makin and not loosing.
He assured my mum and me many times that taking direct hiring maids has its benefit cos the maid will pay for their own airfare back in whatever circumstances. Not true!! If u give p/d cheques make sure u cancel if anything goes wrong for yr own safety. I took a maid and after receiving the IP letter frm MOM, they can call me and tell me a story that the maid does not like certain duties and they forged my signature to cancel the maid and recommended me to take one that I rejected. My hubby sent them many nasty emails as thy played dirty with us and wanted me to send my current maid back to phillippines. They benefit themselves, they dnt even have a savings for the maid. When asked, they say its not legal. Just be careful and firm with them. They may not honour their word, at least not with the boss like guy at Katong, Btw are u using BktTimah or Katong?

Oh my!!! that's terrible.. and I am really worried now. I am using the one at Bt Timah, a very \"run down\" looking agency comparing to their neighbours. I have tried searching info abt them via google but in vain. Tam also doesn't have anything on her blog. One of the mommy in another forum responded to my query and had made gd comments on the KATONG branch which she had used. So i took a chance lor.

I am not giving post dated cheque.. they are charging SGD488 for PD payment and SGD288 for out front. My maid has 4.5 months loan.... so i thought, forget it, why let them earn the extra SGD200.... and yah, they keep changing the schedules of her arrival and I really don't like that.

The agent finally called me at 9pm last night, say my maid has arrived on yesterday and can hand over to me after thumb print. And I told them too bad, I will pick her only on Thursday evening/Friday morning.

Fingers crossed that the maid will be OK - ex-Singapore, for almost 8 yrs with one employer. Fingers crossed....

I have asked her to email me ALL the documents, contracts and everything first before I pick her up this Thursday.. let me see the final time. But hasn't seen the documents yet.. pray pray pray... My boys will be alone at home with the maid most of the time lor...

Oh wow! Blissfulmum, I hope you have better luck with this new maid. My current indo maid is also ex-sin 4 years. She is a gem. I don’t even have a chance to raise my voice during these 2 months she is with me. That’s how good she is. So, you will be lucky. One cannot be unlucky all the time. The only thing is I let her pray. Other than that, everything that she does I have checked and realised she’s done it before I could even tell her. If a maid is 80% good, I consider myself very lucky. However we wouldn’t know till the end do we?


Next time try to get an agent that accepts P.D cheques. Incase the maid turns out like crap at least you have one less thing to worry about, Money!

I have learnt my lesson when I got my previous crazy Myanmar maid. My current maid agency takes only P.D cheques. So, why not? I’ve got nothing to lose.

Come to think about it, do you think maid will add strange things in our food if we have treated them nicely in the first place? I heard some cases where the maid do it because they want to cast spell??!!

Agt had just confirm the collection - finally... and my \"maid management\" days will begins.

I am not sure abt your 2nd post - if we treat them well, will they put stuff in our food?? hmmm.....DH always complained that I treated my maids too well... so much so that they will take me for granted - and it's TESTED and PROVEN.

Many pple will learnt from experience, but too bad for me - cos I NEVER learn from mistakes. Each time I told myself to be less emotional, but everytime when the maid comes.. I forgot abt my own rules.. ahhahaahah... LOL ... so bottom line is, i really need someone geniue.

My agt said, she doesn't eat pork but she doesn't pray or fast wor... but she needs 2 off days a month for personal development, learning computer and english at Indonesia Embassy - and I am all ready to support that. I also wished that she could have a better life in the future. Even my last Myanmar maid? I am all ready to send her for english classes, cooking classes at CC.. but she didn't stay long enough to enjoy that lor.. too bad.

I just found out that my agent is also in this forum and she is probably reading this now. I wish i really wish that this maid will turn out to be someone whom you think she is and that's why you have strongly recommended her to me and that I don't need your after sales service within the next 18 months. Fingers crossed to both of us

To all mommies and daddies out there... I will let u know . .. eventually, if everything turns out well or not, cos I've promised my agent that I will give her referrals if alls well.

Hi blissful mum, Altho I had a real bad experience with d katong branch, u need not be scared. The agency is legally registered. I m quite surprise to hear dat the bkt timah brunch is kind of run down. the katong branch is quite decent, just like any other agency. Its not the maid im angry with its the so called older guy in charge, neither am I unhappy with the young svs adviser as he take instructions frm the so called boss. Lucky u did not deal with him. Well its when trouble comes then he gets all irrational. Hes a lousy business man and uses the MOM laws to his advantage, so check yr contract and if u find any thing thats not in yr favour then tell them to delete or amend.The guy in charge think we are all fools and can b taken for a ride. Too bad I got my lawyer to advise and act should he play nasty. Anyway Ive never come across a idiot like him who is selfish, money grabbing, inconsiderate and goes back on his word. Iuse to c some current maids hanging around with the girls they introduced there (doing sidelines) my maids contact got a cut of 200 for every successful maid brought in. Its only when trouble comes then we know whether the agents good. I think u should be ok as its the maid that is yr concern now. Check her passfport that its not expiring.

Btw, have they introduced Savings for the maid. If no , prepare one and let them sign, my maid frm them complained about having no savings stated in her salary slip. What made them delay yr maid? dnt tell me after u selected her someone else was willing to pay a higher price…ha ha, they did that to me. I dnt feel good when u mention u didnt hear frm them regarding the stated date of arrival. Oh yes, I realise i only hear frm them real fast when I have nt confirmed my maid, ah, thats when u will hear frm them asking u whether u hv considered and wish to confirm the maid. i remember I had to call them to chec if my maid s in. , she was and they didnt call me for two days till i called. So my impression is they are just order takers. (at katong ) at least…

Hi , I have still not selected my agent cos Ive been caught up with house work etc… Initially I thot of using my relatives agent but realise they are taking frm some other source for Mynmar helpers n to date they dnt have any christian biodatas, i may hve to settle for one that is a non christian. I was wondering whether any one here know of any agent that deals directly with the mynmars and bring them to spore.

I read in the advert some two yrs bac of an agent called Tailor made who specialise in MYnmars, I dnt know if they r still around, any one know of them and whether they r still functioning?.

Last night I found out that my maid kept her fingernails and fingers/toes' skin :!: I was so :x cos is unhygienic.

I asked her why she kept it. Her replied was she don't want to leave any thing from her \"body\" in Singapore. So she wanted to keep till she return to her home town....I was going crazy.....

Can some1 tell me what should I do to her? Send her back to agent and let them educate her or buy ticket after she pay the loan(another 2 mths to go). :?:

I just heard over the radio that North Koreans are packing all of Kim Jong Il's output (watery & solid) back to N.Korea cos they suspect the Chinese may take samples if they flush it down the bowl. So this nail thing....hmmm, while new to me, is not as gross.

Can you ask her what about her hair that drop each day? and the urine/poop she passes out, where does she keep the stash? That one also from body. And is she intending to keep all her farts too???? Ridiculous!!!

Consider how comfy you are with her. If the thought scares you, tell the agent to talk some sense into her - that this is a hygiene issue (more than superstition). If she dun listen, bye bye.

I thought it's more like if she collects YOUR family's nails etc then can do kong tao? If you have to worry about this, I think you have to start sweeping your own floor and cleaning own toilet (ie nonid maid) cos it's very easy for her to get such things.

Hi shine_fs, I feel that it's more a matter of hygiene if she dares put these sort of things in your food. My 'insurance' is that the maid eats what we eat. Don't worry about kong tao - as long as you are aboveboard, nothing to fear. Hope all goes well.
