Anglo-Chinese School (Junior)

My son is in P2. He hardly has homework since P1. My wife thinks that he's too relax.Dear parents, can I ask on the academic requirements on ACSJ, as my 2 friends gave me totally different information.
One saying his P3 boy in ACSJ got hardly no homework.
Another one saying his P1 boy needs 2 hours everyday for homework & review, and teachers are very demanding
Now not sure which one is the more \"common\" case for ACSJ.. Thanks a lot.
The one spending 2 hours everyday for homework might be from a neighborhood school. Definitely not ACSJ. -
Hi, would like to do a quick check here. Based on the statistics on MOE website, there seems to be vacancies for ACSJ. Is there usually a large number of registrations on the last day of phase 2C? Am staying >2km from ACSJ so would like to gauge the probability of getting in. Thanks!

You are not following the \"Anglo Chinese Family of Schools\" thread? Somebody posted the breakdown:
ACSJ as of 1.50pm
SC <1km - 27
SC 1-2km - 2
SC >2km - 4
PR 1-2km - 1
And YES the bulk of registrations is always on the last day. That's why the numbers look so low right now. If you want to gauge your chance tmr, do be prepared to rush over from ACSJ to your second choice school (which I assume will be nearer your house & quite far away from Newton). -

On the last day, it's quite common to see mass exodus of parents from ACSJ to SJIJ. So if you're not <1km from SJIJ, you should seriously consider another backup school.shymz:

llDaddy asked: when can students start CCA?
Currently CCA only compulsory from P3 onwards I think? P1 not allowed. And P2 only limited voluntary CCAs. Can anyone share their experience this year? -

I had shared in the other thread actually. The former principle allowed P1 students to take voluntary CCA, so my son took it since he was in P1.llDaddy asked: when can students start CCA?

This year, the new principle decided not to open CCA slot for P1, but fortunately P2 students can still opt to join, so my son continue to join his CCA.
It will be compulsory only for P4 onward, but I think since my son is still quite free, it's better for him to join early so that he has a better foundation instead of starting only in P4. -
Ya I was quite disappointed when there was no CCA fair this year and P1s also couldn’t join the CCA online application.
Later on, us P1 parents received an email from the Sailing CCA, inviting us to attend a talk if we wanted to let our P1s join. Maybe they had leftover places after the main exercise, I dunno. But there are some basic requirements to be met, eg for obvious reasons, must be able to swim 50m in the open sea with life vest, something like that.
Anyway, not much loss to me. My boy is happily playing away with his toys or reading for leisure most afternoons. Other afternoons are filled with Chinese enrichment and music lessons. Sports lessons on weekends. -

Hi, for chinese and music lessons, these are conducted in school or do you mean elsewhere? -

I hope they'll revise the rule again as my younger boy will join in 2 years time.Ya I was quite disappointed when there was no CCA fair this year and P1s also couldn't join the CCA online application.

Those are my own externally paid enrichment program for my son lol. Otherwise he'd be spending too much time on iPad. I'd rather he pursue his interest in music (which entails daily practice).zac's mum:
