there are still thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of ACS OLD boys

it will be quite a different matter another 20 years or 40 years from today

          ......

          AMAZING
NEIGHBOURHOOD schools are seeing a terrific increase in applications
including BRAND NEW NEIGHBOURHOOD schools with NO ALUMNI

          DESPITE the birth rate falling

          AMAZING
very very very very hard to explain why
          Elementary, my Dear Watson.

This is a 2-part answer to the question(s):
          1. Mathematics, and 2. Geography (Demographics)
          In no particular order.

Mathematically, a thousand ACS old boys can produce 500 new boys (since they are equally likely to get female / male offsprings). The numbers will improve if they have 2 or more children (G says replacement ratio is 2.1). Demographically, that hasn't been happening in Singapore for a while (we can't really blame only the ACS old boys). If you include infertility (big issue in Singapore), moving aboard or away, preference for other schools (because parents / in-laws / wife / maid also got say you know?), etc the number of possible news boys fall below 500 rapidly. If they are getting around 50% of what they used to get, they are ahead of target.

Notice that the NEW NEIGHBOURHOOD schools are in NEW NEIGHBOURHOOD? Meaning more young parents, more school going age children. That's geography. Furthermore, notice that NONE of these new schools are single gender schools? Unless ACS start accepting girls, they can't make up their numbers.

Lastly, declining enrollment isn't unique to ACS. You have probably not heard of the number of schools that had to merge or close down. If you have been as obsessed with them as you are with ACS, some of them could survive a bit longer. FYI enrollment in other boys' schools seem to mirror ACS trend as well.

          Case closed.

You are going to JS right? Wish you all the best!:)

I registered for PS. Hopefully no need to ballot within 1km.

I'll be there too. In case of the ridiculous snenario where ACSP requires balloting for <1km and ACSJ doesn't require balloting for 1-2km.

                    😓

It will make history if acsj don’t need balloting for 1-2km!

All the best to all of us!
