      ZEE.SHK:
Any Year 1 2016 parents and/students here? How has ANDSS been so far? Is there like a portal that parents can get info from the school? In primary, it used to be SNAAC.

Hi, I'm from ANDSS Sec 1. Anderson is a great school with a lot of caring and motivational teachers. The teachers conduct weekly conversation with the students to know them better. Also, there's Inspiring Monday in which the school invites speakers to talk to students. The principle also allows us to wear sports shoe and wear half-u on Friday due to the warm weather of Singapore. It's only been 3 weeks but I can see more and more exciting things happening! Not to forget that there's a sabbatical camp! Yes, there's a portal. You can access the portal through Anderson's website.

        Hi NerdyMath.

Thanks for your reply. Nice to hear that you are enjoying ANDSS. Your optimism really shines through, great to know that you are settling down well :). Yes, we have received instructions last week about the portal. Good luck for upcoming CAs!

          Hi

Does anyone has the information on the NA students performance in the O levels, how many percentage of the NA students are eligible for Polytechnic after their O levels in 2015? Does the school concentrate on Express more and neglect the NA students?

          Thanks

            Hi,

Heard that results dropped as compared to previous years. I can’t find the 2015 O level results eligible for JC on the school website. Anyone can pm me to let me know.

Hello, I am a secondary 4NA student (2017) in ANDSS currently and though im not sure with the latest results, Anderson produces good results. In year 2014, 71.9% of the Secondary 5 managed to get into a polytechnic. Most of my seniors that took O Levels in 2015 did pretty well and some managed to get into a JC even.
Also, I can safely say after being an NA student for 3 years in Anderson, Anderson do not neglect the NA students. Actually they try to make our lessons more fun and provide us with educational programmes and talks conducted by outside vendors. We are treated equally in school by the teachers and the teachers are really caring and helpful!

I hope this answers your question!

My daughter wants to go anderson through dsa next year. Any experienced parents? Please share thoughts. She wants to join a debate cca there. Is there is a huge amount of homework given on a daily basis?

I'm a fellow student from Anderson. Debate CCA is on Monday and Wednesday, 3.30pm to roughly 6pm.

Your question regarding the amount of homework really depends on the teachers. Some teachers will go through notes and homework in class, while other teachers might just hand out homework and expect it to be done the next lesson.

Lessons on Literature, Geography or History only happens at most twice a week (sometimes only once per week). Hence, students should have around 2-3 days to complete those subjects.

For the 4 other main subjects, the teachers would normally go through the topic/chapter first before asking the students to complete the homework. Hence, students are able to finish the homework faster as they are familiar with the chapter/topic. Teachers are also lenient, they would not give so much homework at one time.

For me, I am a Sec 2 student and can complete my homework daily by 10pm. Hope this helps.

Just to share… Called the school to check on badminton cca and was told that badminton CCA no longer available from this year.
