      Hi Janet

I think there is a gastric flu, vomiting cum high fever virus going round school children now, please take care. A few children from different schools that I know were down last few weeks.

And yes, starchy water from porridge, 100 plus, Milo with crackers etc works for us too, as mentioned in Jennifer's earlier post. Up and running about on second day too, you may want to try.

i think i may be next to be down...tummy feels uncomfortable and experiencing some body ache.
just came back from the clinic...doctor changed her medication to syrup, since the tablet made her drink more water in order to swallow. MC extended till Friday.

      Will try Jennifer's method.

Another way is to drink drinks like 100+ or Aquarius. The CO2 apparently kills the bacteria.

        Hi Janet,

You can try to give her some probiotics and bananas too. Actually mine was down on Monday too, school called me to fetch her home at 12pm after she vomited in class. High fever too on Monday night till Tuesday afternoon. Up and running and playing computer games on my phone now as I type this. Going back to school tomorrow.

Verdict: starchy porridge water, 100 plus, probiotics, bananas, some yogurt ice cream, milo with crackers, probiotics and medication works (fever medicine and anti vomit medicine). Hope it works for you.

Doctor gave her probiotics to take for 4 days.

Lethargic bcos no food in the body. Wants to eat but food cant stay down. Fever gone. Now drinking sips of isotonic drink. I guess her stomach needs to rest completely before it can take some bread.
I am worried I would be next to be down earlier.

Given stronger anti vomit syrup, antacid to absorb the wind. It’s all about rest until the end of the week.

            Janet,

I think you have over stressed yourself from taking care of your parents, then your hubby, followed by your dd.
Go for a short trip once everyone recovers well enough to travel.
            You deserve a good getaway.

the weather has been rather hot and humid. my resistance has been lowered.
thanks for your kind advice, jennifer. when everyone is well again, that is the best medicine. don't need any getaway.
meanwhile, hubby has 2 appointments at SNEC next week.

Glad that I powered through my sickness by drinking Aquarius with lemon juice.

Not much ME time as these 2 weeks will be rough. Will be soon on the road again to Australia and Taiwan again. And also arranging with my family to return to my birthplace in Dec again and also to visit my parents.

Hope that you and your family will be well soon,Janet…Take care.Do drink plenty of fluids and avoid certain kinds of foods in this weather.

                  Hi FishFingers,
If your kids love nougat, Taiwan has this brand which is absolutely yummy. it's 'sugar & spice'. there isn't a milky smell and the taste is gorgeous!

hope you have some time to enjoy in Australia and Taiwan.

Thanks FishFingers. I do hope everyone at home will get better soon. it has been rather challenging since late April.

Hopefully the weather will change for the better soon.Lost a lot of breeding stock fishes to the extreme heat.Tempers flared up easily at home due to the heat too.

My mother in law taught me to drink Sarsi or 7 Up with lemon juice to combat the flu or sickness bacteria.

Was born in New South Wales so it is like going home but I am a true blue Singaporean. Parents already migrated there after mom retired from teaching service.

But I am still divided about flying there though cos my wife will be 7 months pregnant by then.Maybe will ask my parents to come over.

with your parents here as well, it's going to be a big party when the twins are born...and you have no lack of babysitters. your wife can fully concentrate on coaching the older girls while the younger twins will have 2 sets of grandparents to look after them. awesome!

I am not sure if I have the time as this Taiwan trip is for training purposes.

Will try look out for it during R and R though.
