I recalled that a normal grassroot volunteer won't work; you need to be grassroot community leader, which apparently is very difficult to get...
It's so true! Some even do grassroot n move house and its not guarantee to get in. If ballot out also don't know what to say. I actually wanted to do grassroot so can get in through phrase 2b since we are just staying next to school B but my hubby hate the idea of doing volunteer or grassroot. He said if I'm going to do it I might as well go back to work since I'm so free to provide my service to others. Lol.janet88:
yes...parents will do anything for their kids. that's the magic of parenthood.
it comes naturally.
PV is probably a lot easier... -
Very sad. Must scrap PV and RC members route. No true sprit. Just doing it inorder to get a place. Must overhaul completely the P1 registration criteria.

Please see this post: https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?p=736812#p736812Hi KSP
Is it possible to use address on Father's IC (that is currently rented out n lease ending so will be able to change address after lease ends) to apply for Pri school in Phase 2C n if it was unsuccessful, we use address on Mother's IC (where we are staying now) to register in Phase 2CS? We intend to move back to the Father's address if it's successful in Phase 2C as it is within one km of a preferred school. I'm asking for Pri one registration in 2019 as we are planning if we should move after the lease ends. Will MOE require both parents IC address to be the same at the time of registeration? -

no questions asked...you will just do anything for the child.
Fully agreed! That's what happened to me...ken007:

until now, i still remember washing 6 cartons of sweet potatoes with 2 other mums for total defence day during PV. our fingers were wrinkled after that, but we chatted happily and worked together to wash, air dry and pack the sweet potatoes.[/quote]Good for you!
I tried to do PV and was told by the school that coming in to register 2 years in advance is \"too late\" and I need to register 2.5 years in advance...
Problem was, I only got back to SG then and the reason for relocating back to SG: our child's education... -

I was unsuccessful get in the ballot too, when I approach for waiting list from their staff they told me to back only after I've register my Son for 2cs. Waiting list not in first come first serve?
Nope. You can only request to be put on the Wait List. Usually, it's the P or VP who will do the selection from the Wait List when there is a vacancy. As for the selection criteria, it's not clear. This applies for every level in the primary school.
I know of some schools that allow parents to be put on Wait List after Phase 2C and others only after Phase 2C(S). -
Hi all, can i check for the waitlist, is it available to all or only those who failed at 2C balloting? is it the case that we have to be within 1km or 2km then have a higher chance? how about those outside 2km? can still put waitlist? thanks!

Wait list is managed by individual school. Unless the school has specific conditions, the wait list should be open to everyone.
However, wait list is not first come first serve, so it is entirely up to the school to choose whoever they want to admit. And because the process is not transparent, we have no idea how the school decide who to choose...distance might just be one of the considerations. -
Who gets first on the waiting list really depends on the sch. Priority could be given to pvs who were balloted out in 2B or for parents who ask to be put on the list after 2C and 2CS.
We got a call earlier this year from the school where we were balloted out last year after doing PV for slightly more than 40 hrs. But we decided not to transfer our boy as we are v happy and contented with his current sch. The environment is a much better fit. Co-ed and with caring trs. So don’t need to worry if yr child didn’t get into a school of your original choice. It could v well be a blessing in disguise. What makes a school "good" is really the teachers and the school leaders. That’s what matters. -

Thank you for sharing! This provides a partial answer as to why some people who are seemingly low in the waitlist may actually get the offer. It could be some of those who were offered earlier reject the offer because they are happy with their existing school, so it goes to the next in line.Who gets first on the waiting list really depends on the sch. Just would like to check did MOE website ever publish the breakdown of the distance the applicant come from during the application stage for phase 2c this year. Example how many applicants from more than 2 km
I do remember seeing it from somewhere not sure whether I am losing my marbles??
