Thyroid disorder

JuzJes:
No special diet.
Hi Jennifer,Jennifer:
I also have Grave's Disease.
I do not have issues with dairy products, fortunately.
My condition is somehow stabilised, can eat seafood once a week.
I still steer clear of seaweed.
Glad that you condition has stabilised.
Did you follow any special diet apart from avoiding seaweed?
Just took the medicine daily, advised to avoid seafood (can eat fish) and seaweed.
I think diet is not the most critical factor in stabilizing the condition.
Stress level must be as low as possible.
Your friend should try not worry too much about the condition, trust the doctor's recommendations, take the medicine properly.
Once the condition stabilizes, she might be able to resume eating those foods that are to be avoided previously. -

Maybe that was a contributing factor to her illness, not the other way round.
Many people are on a restricted diet, it takes a while to adjust, but it is much much easier to find alternatives now than 8 years ago. And being in Asia, she has so many dairy free options. -

She could everything and ate very well before this illness. Now, seems to be allergic to so many stuffs , she is depressed! She bought a cake which is free from egg, sugar and milk . After eating , she had hives! She said she only can eat airMaybe that was a contributing factor to her illness, not the other way round.

Where did she buy it from, what is inside and does she know what she can eat?

Can she eat rice? Meat? Two types of veg? Potatoes? Olive oil? Sesame oil? Salt? From that she can have porridge, fried rice, rice with soup.
Can she use coconut oil/milk, and curry powder? If so she can also have nasi lemak style rice, curry and rice.
Next she can try using rice-based noodles in soup or stir fried. Rice flour to make battered food.
It is a lifestyle change, but there are now many resources to support that. -

Definitely depressing to be from can eat anything to cannot eat so many things.
But tell her not to be depressed for too long.
Else the condition will only be harder n take longer to control.
Ask her to check with her doctor for support group in Singapore. -

That is not useful information. She has to start looking at ingredient lists and expiry dates. She may be allergic to a common preservative or some colouring. If she doesn't read ingredient list she will not be able to narrow it down.
She bought on line , supposed to be vegan ! (
She can't even take plain white rice? She must try it without any sauces.
Cook with just salt and a good fresh oil and keep the ingredients simple. Test each ingredient for at least three days. -
Kitty2,
Before I knew I had hyperthyroidism, I was also experiencing diarrhea throughout the day. I was either stuck at home or always needed to visit the toilets when I went out.
After a week of medication, i started to have the normal bowel movement n put back the weight I lost.
It might not be real food allergy, but a symptom of Gravesβ Disease which could be brought under control once the medication kicks in.
While waiting for the medication effects, your friend would need to be more careful in her choices of food. Vegetables n fruits canβt so bad. Must remain positive her health would return.
