      Jennifer:
Definitely depressing to be from can eat anything to cannot eat so many things.

But tell her not to be depressed for too long.
Else the condition will only be harder n take longer to control.

Ask her to check with her doctor for support group in Singapore.
      :thankyou:

She bought on line , supposed to be vegan ! (
That is not useful information. She has to start looking at ingredient lists and expiry dates. She may be allergic to a common preservative or some colouring. If she doesn't read ingredient list she will not be able to narrow it down.

She can't even take plain white rice? She must try it without any sauces.
Cook with just salt and a good fresh oil and keep the ingredients simple. Test each ingredient for at least three days.

          Kitty2,

Before I knew I had hyperthyroidism, I was also experiencing diarrhea throughout the day. I was either stuck at home or always needed to visit the toilets when I went out.

After a week of medication, i started to have the normal bowel movement n put back the weight I lost.

It might not be real food allergy, but a symptom of Graves’ Disease which could be brought under control once the medication kicks in.

While waiting for the medication effects, your friend would need to be more careful in her choices of food. Vegetables n fruits can’t so bad. Must remain positive her health would return.

:thankyou: she had diarrhea before she was diagnosed too. She was only diagnosed when she had heart palpitation! She went to cardiologist and was diagnosed as Graves' disease 😞 . Hope the medication works for her

Yes, I also had heart palpitations n could not sleep well at night, always waking up n very hard to go back to sleep.

Did doctor prescribe beta blocker for your friend? I took Propanol for the heart palpitations issue. Worked very well for me.

I still keep some spares at home.
Last year I went overseas n had a cup of McD coffee on an empty stomach. By the time I reached the airport for my flight back to Sg, I could feel my heart beating abnormally. Quickly ate a tab of Propanol before getting into the plane. Not sure whether coffee was the culprit as I had also eaten some forbidden food during the week.

Assure your friend as long as she follows the doctor's instructions, she will get well soon.

Btw if she has some emotional burdens which could be causes of thyroid, like being unhappy for a long long time. It would be good if she can put those feelings down.

Btw she should be seeing an endocrinologist now, not cardiologist.

Can I check if swelling at one side of the neck area (at the thyroid glands) a symptom of thyroid disorder?

I would think any kind of swelling warrants immediate medical attention of a qualified doctor to confirm the condition.

                      I did not have swelling.
I experienced a 3kg weight loss, diarrhea, difficulty in sleeping, profuse sweating and hand trembling.

Went for ultrasound and now waiting for report. Just wanted to check if swelling is also one of the symptoms.
