Sorry I have no recommendation.Hi! Would appreciate some help here.
My child is in his first year in NJ and he is not doing well in his studies. I am trying to find him assessment books or exam papers to help him but I can't seemed to find anything for IP schools.
Can anyone share with me how do your kids revise for their CAs and SAs please?
Do you think textbooks are sufficient?
What kind of assessments do your child practice on?
Sec 1 express stream books?
Appreciate all advice. Thanks!
But the teacher in NJC is very approachable. Ask your child to approach the teacher for help on his weak topic, they will be able to guide him. -

For Math, I think the students can access to Hey Math for more practice questions. For Science (and possibly humanities), I think there are practice sets or videos or mini quizzes on the ASKNLearn platform to help students on certain concepts. Otherwise, yes, approach the teachers, they are very helpful and can give you the appropriate recommendations.

For Chinese, the syllabus is similar to mainstream. So Sec 1 Chinese assessment books are useful. Just make sure the topics in the assessment matches those in his textbook.
I personally feel that textbooks and assessments are not sufficient. There is only so much the teacher can teach in class and for subjects like Thinking, Geography, Science...it is important for the student to read widely during his free time. Newspapers, magazines, science and other non-fiction books. Documentaries are also useful. A visit to the museums is a far better way to learn about the History of Singapore/Asia then rote learning (not to mention better retention). Old Ford Factory is finally revamped and up and running

I just notice that if study in NJC the subjects syllabus is very niche, will an average student be able to cope without tuition? Any parent here who has went thru the DSA route can share the release of CO or WL for DSA students? Thanks!

Not sure what is the definition of subjects syllabus being niche?
All other IP schools subject syllabus same as schools offering O level tracks?
Would you consider other IP schools offer niched subjects syllabus?
What is the definition of an average student?
Average in all subjects?
Average in learning ability?
Average in learning potential?
Not sure how to give you advice for your question. -

Reading the threads posted by other parents state that syllabus is different till no suitable assessment books to buy and quite a handful of their children not doing well so a little worried as mine is an only child who is very used to tuition and stuff. Just worried cannot cope on her own if cannot find the tutor that can teach in NJC ip syllabus. Average as in probably estimate to score 230-240 for PSLE and NJC ip JH intake is 258 about there. So DSA into the school scared can't cope. I heard syllabus for TJC and DHS ip schools more standard as in can find tuition classes doing IP tuition for these 2 schools from some parents. Maybe I worry alot but thought I find out first before letting my daughter decide just because she has a few friends DSAing into NJC. TQ!
