Francoise:
For P6 DSA students, who are offered CO, by end of 2017 August 31, by Raffles Institution -
Hmmm, the boy who assisted us with the school tour was an O Level student. :?phtthp:
RI is an IP \"A\" level school : no O level candidate, for Sec 1 cohort.
He said he screwed up during Sec 1 so ended in O Level.
I remember because I encouraged him to work hard as there is a chance for him to go to the IP route again in Year 3.
What they are being offered, is an IP course for 6 years ahead, all the way directly up to A level, bypassing O level. The phrase, \"bypassing O level\" : means no need to sit for O level.
So, all these current 2017 P6 students, when they begin / start afresh in January 2018 as Sec 1 cohort or freshmen : all will study IP academic curriculum.
However, in the course of the 6 long years ahead, from 2018 all the way up till 2023 GCE A level, starting from middle of Sec 1 Semester 1 onwards, RI teachers will start monitoring, very closely : who are the ones from 2018 Sec 1 cohort, that begin to show signs of academic struggle , unable to cope with the rigor of RI IP?
Yes, there are regular Term tests, to check on their Semester progress.
Students who show sign of struggle : can include those who entered by PSLE T-score, i.e. able to meet RI Cut-off-point at around 260, as well as include those who had entered by DSA.
Along the way, Teachers would have identified : who are these students, that cannot cope ?
Then, school will open up \"O\" level on-demand class for them, preparing them to sit for O level, in 2021 Secondary 4.
This class is formed only, on \"demand\" basis, meaning, as and when it is required. Hence, this class is actually for dropouts, of RI IP program.
After these small group of students have sat for their O level : they are free to continue education, in Sg, or prefer go overseas.
After O level, some of these students may want to continue their A level in RI (if school permit them to), while others who feel embarrassed because their fellow peers know that they are from the O level class, prefer to go elsewhere, start afresh elsewhere where nobody know their background, to continue their education.
Conclusion
Right from the beginning, at the point of offered 2017 P6 DSA offer, by end of 31 August, everyone to pursue IP curriculum.
Along the way (during the long journey of 6 years), when casualty arise : some will be identified by Form / subject Teachers, to sit for O level, instead.
Those NOT identified along the journey, means they are coping ok with IP : will sit for 2023 GCE \"A\" level.
Note
Opening of on-demand \"O\" level classes : arise in RI.
But, Not in RGS.
RGS : don't open any on-demand O level class.
In RGS, since don't have on-demand O level class, unlike RI, if your daughter can't cope with IP, then how ?
In RGS, after mid Sec 1 to end of Sec 2 : Teachers would have identified, who are the girls that are struggling academically, based on the interim, regular Term tests conducted ? And, also based on Total 7, 8 or 9 subjects taken, depending on whether students take up 3rd Foreign language (German / French / Japanese / Spanish / special Malay, etc), take up special Music elective, special Art elective, etc. During Parents-meet-Tr session, Tr will also talk to the parents, of these affected students.
Students identified in RGS, who can't cope with IP : Tr will do their very best, to help the child. Sometimes, these girls need counselling, as emotionally & psychologically, they are much affected. -

Hi Francoise,
All the boys who enter RI will do the raffles programme. However, if the boys in year 2 get GPA ≤ 2.4, they will have to go through the O level route after which, depending on their results (not sure what the criteria are), they either continue to do A levels at RJC or explore alternative post-secondary options. Info from RI Y1 level briefing slides. Hope that clarifies. -

Congrats! May I know what leadership qualities do you possess?[/quote]
My girl is a prefect since P3 and EXCO from P5. Also, she is a Brownie - gotten her Chief Comm in P5 and other contributions in both areas, e.g. team leader and etc. -
