There is no free ride for anyone in sgpore education system.
No free ride, but some have better and smoother ride than others... :siam: -

Has Cedar released results across all domains? So far only heard of Math & Science from this group.
Sports too. -
Anybody know how many applicants apply for NYGH, & roughly how many get selected for interview?
During their open house, the slides did show their cohort students for 2018 will be 390, and the school will admit up to 50% for the DSA students, so will be 195 students from DSA domain. Any parents who know or have prior experiences can share what are the chances of getting CO if selected for interview? -
Anyone knows if HCI gives WL for Sports this year?

Most geppers DSA for RI or RGS. Outcome not out. How to say rejection higher? Not fair to say geppers free rider. They are taught less of the PSLE stuff unlike mainstream and do more projects? Most still score above 250. Most awards won by geppers. Please be sensitive in your comments.
Some rejections already out from R schools. Obviously I based on anecdotal evidence that it appears that more GEP received rejection this year as compared to the past. There were some talks that GEP students appear to be getting a \"free ride\" if you look at past years' DSA discussions on KSP. There has been cases of some GEP becoming complacent, and it is only human nature that some will slack off once convinced that they are \"gifted\" and hence no need to work hard. I would suggest that one should try to understand human nature and find ways to deal with it, instead of shutting down uncomfortable views. -

According to my knowledge, geppers do not need to go through the first round test for some top schools, eg. NYGH for the past years DSA. Correct me if I'm wrong...Yngmng:

I totally agree. Why said its free ride for them. They take the same test, go to the same interview like other MS kids. The school choose the candidates not the other way round. They are just 12yr old kids like any of the MS kids. They work equally hard as well. Please spare a thought for them when you pass bias comments. Thanks. -

According to my understanding, those geppers that are exempted have to score well for the last 1.5 or 2.5 years.

I have seen many GEP children who work really really hard for their achievements. The term free ride/smoother ride is totally unfair to them. These children truly deserve their offer. So what if they have worked really hard and got the DSA offer and decided to be less stress about PSLE? I’m sure mainstream children who got the offer will also be more "slack". If the schools decided to be biased towards GEP children then please direct your frustration to the schools and not put down the effort that these children have put in.

It's relative. Compared to a mainstream, geppers do more non PSLE stuff. All this take up time.Yngmng:

I have both gep and mainstream children. I do not think the gep child is taught less of PSLE stuff. In fact I think her gep curriculum contributed to her stellar psle results. Please don't flame me, just my own experience. -

Correct me if I'm wrong...[/quote]Yes, that was what some parents reported in past years' DSA KSP discussions. Apparently some GEP did not have to attend DSA related tests and yet got in via DSA. As such there were past comments that GEP had free ride. However, it appears that this year MOE required same DSA selection process for all applicants.junemum72:
