Me Time!

I would think they could do it if need to. they start making their bed nowadays..many patterns on how they put the comforter cover (used as blanket). whenever can, I tell them or they see me, many things can be based on what we see, feel or hear, no need to specifically go and learn it..I dont have high standard to begin withMrsKiasu:
i need to slowly teach myself
to let these 2 girls do the housechores. They will do actually..just that i will auto 'snatch' the job and do it on my own. changing the bedsheet for their own bed may be a bit of hard job as the mattress is abt 13in thick and one side leaning to wall..maybe let them do the pillow case changing.
Those heavy mattresses can be difficult. Maybe let her help you when you do it, then she will know how to if she has to. My daughter told me that when she went to OBS in Sec 3, some of her classmates didn't know how to put the sheets on their beds! She had to help them.
but those are mostly house chore la. esp dd1, cannot sleep at one position. all are king size bed and i have to add in a triple layer high single/super single mattress next to it for dd2, whenever she feels having own space. sometimes i could see dd1 feet next to dd2's head.

i m not disciplined at all. i have no fixed schedule at all. ours usually more than 1 month. to stretch the cleanliness , I dont let them jump, play, eat, drink on bed. clothes changed after going out. pyjamas, pants as much as possible not to get pulled up when sleep. if anyone have diarrhea or alike, i get them changed and go wash their bottoms each time after go visit toilet.. i too would prefer the cleaner, fresher and crispier bed sheet..time for me to ve more disciplined
I change sheets monthly. No one gets on their beds at all except at night, when they have showered are in night clothes, and the sheets still smell fine. We don't have anyone with severe enough allergies that they act up with this regime, so it saves me work, and also saves water and electricity! And my husband and I have been using a bamboo mat for coolness during the warmer months (about 10 mths of the year), so I only need to wipe the mat and change pillow cases. It's probably a good thing to stretch the time between changing longer as a service to the environment. -

Mine- cleanest ! so depends bi or 3 plus week
Not that dun want to wash , sometimes is no place n not enuff sun to bake the sheets
Still need to wash tons of sch attire daily ! ah yo .... HOUSE CHORES :stompfeet:
Towels bath and face - throw then to wash together with daily clothes, every day washing different
citizens towels in the house
Blankets - i outsourced to the diy coin machines
bath towels also split twice a week for the same reason. i wash hubby's towel twice a week so as to block the cupboards from being baked in the morning sun.
quilt covers once a month.
household chores are endless.
i've shifted washing bed sheets to weekday nights since there are more clothes to wash over the weekend. -

Wow, all of you are so disciplined in getting things done. Much as I want to wash my sheets weekly, I find it is such a big hassle so end up doing like once every 2 to 3 weeks. Looks like I must set up a duty roster to get things done regularly.
if anyone is unwell, i will change the towel and bed sheet again when the particular citizen is feeling better.janet88:
Same as Janet.
bed sheet saturdays.
floor rugs mondays.
towels tuesdays.
for me if there is a system in place, i know what to do on certain days...this way, my ME time is free day

I think once you start washing once a week, you will very quickly be able to tell the difference by touch alone. And there is a difference if the sheets were washed/dried by heat or cool water/winds. I feel very lucky to have modern day appliances. Cannot imagine washing by hand or stirring the sheets with a stick in a giant tub of boiling water like grandma!

I have a helper and I do not change the sheets once a week.
We do it fortnightly. It can be a tiring job since with the changing of the sheets, helper vacuums the mattresses and pillows as well. After the sheets are dried, helper will iron and fold before putting them in the cupboard. We also have the luxury of being able to sun our comforters, pillows, etc in the morning if the weather allows.
Now that kids' days at school are longer, they will climb onto their bed only near bedtime. So I guess the sheets are still relatively clean.
Towels and bath mats, alternate days. -

You are the second person I \"know\" who iron bedsheets.

Not my requirement. 1st helper did it automatically and she trained my 2nd helper and so forth. I have been enjoying crisp clean sheets because of OCD helpers.

You have night clothes or pyjamas?
We donβt -
starlight1968sg:
We all sleep in shorts and t-shirts (kids gave up on pyjamas years ago), but we won't use them for any other purpose for those few days, if you know what I mean. Because I don't want to change sheets so often, I have always been very strict about what gets on the beds.Slmkhoo
